Oh wow -
So for years I have loved Stanley K's 2001 to death...I never watched 2010 because I heard 1.) it was a shitball and 2.) it would taint my view of 2001.
I personally am a big fan of leaving questions unanswered as it stimulates the imagination.
So finally last-night I decided to watch 2010 to see what answers they proposed to the questions remaining from 2001.
Right away the America Vs. Soviet 80's crap was a turnoff.
And then 20 more minutes it became painfully painful not being a Stanley K film....
So then I think - "OK just shut up and watch it, having the secrets of 2001 explained will be worth it"
And I was almost able to keep a straight face on that notion until
spoiler (click to show/hide)
the Russian ship enters Jupiters orbit with the discovery and I saw that fake ass looking toy prop of the discovery ship flipping in in such a way that it completely destroyed the scale feel of the ship.....
Then they try to board the ship and the nice detailed set that was once the exploration pod bay in kubricks masterpiece suddenly looks like a boring white hull of a cruise-ship... and the exploration pods that were full of detail and looked like real crafts in 2001 suddenly look like hatch-less shells of the pods they use to be.....then they go to reactivate HAL and HAL now has a blue nameplate instead of a red nameplate?
Fo real what the fuck is this shit.
I fell asleep and didnt even see the end....
So I ask - is it worth me turning on this shitstain disk again just to see what happens when the computer is turned back on? Are the answers provided worth it?
So far I can barely stomach this tripe....
