So I'm officially done with EB Games. Why? Because they wont exist anymore. I goto EB games to get cash for my games, and apperently Gamestop is finally pissed off so they're turning them into Gamestops.

Now what will I do? Fuck.

They've been operating as the same company for over a year.  There's nothing different, except a name change.  They use the same marketing, the same POS, the same handbook, etc.

I pretty much only went and bought stuff there with shit I wanted to trade in, and that was it.  But that was when I had a shitty retail job and no money.  If I was making the kind of cash I do now back then (which is still low but so much better than before), I would have just ordered everything online.

Gamestop only gives store credit.

Both GameStop and EB Games give cash and store credit.  The policy is Store credit, set value.  Cash, 20% less.  How it was explained to you may have made it seem OMG KEWL LYKE MOAR!  However, two tens still makes twenty, so it's really the same.

Ive never been able to get cash at gamestop. I was there yesterday and was told I couldn't get cash for my games because it was no longer EB Games.

Well that's weird, because I've worked at GameStop for upwards of a year, and I give people cash on trades every day.   Huh.

Any GameStop, EB Games, Electronics Boutique, Funcoland, Babbages or Software Etc. (yes, some still exist!) has the same policy - you can get store credit for your trade-ins or cash for 20% less.  And cash cannot be combined with trade-in promotions.  They all operate under the same company, they all have the rules and practices and there is nothing different about any of them other than the signage.

Not all non-GameStop stores will be changing names, but most will to maximize the marketing that has been occurring post-August.  The company is trying to create a brand.  Some stores will remain the same due to proximity to another location.  For instance, I know one area that has a Funcoland and a GameStop inside the same mall.  The Funcoland will remain a Funcoland in name only, simply because it looks like there are two different video game retailer options for customers.  There's another mall that has a GameStop and a Babbages, where the Babbages will not be changing names due to the same reason.
