Oh crap, PS3's catching up.  :'( at COD4's sales for the 360.   I want the 360 to do well but I still love PC gaming. With those 360 numbers,  developers might not care about making FPS for PC anymore.

when a 3rd party/multi platform game like COD4/AC sell better on the PS3 than Uncharted or any of Sony's 1st/2nd party game, you know there is something wrong!

that beta must have been what helped COD4 sell so much.  I see hardly any commercials but there were like 100,000 people in the beta so there must have been a lot of word of mouth.

also likely because of the new level up system.  not many shooters (other than maybe R6 vegas) have that or do it well.

I always find it weird how people can play very similar games one after another. I'd probably get Orange Box and be settled, but people buy the same fps or jrpg one after another. FPS on 360 is  $$$$$$.

And Uncharted made its game title infamous.

Yes, all FPS and JRPG games are exactly the same!  What I find weird is how you can think waggling replacing button presses and analog movement is acceptably "different" enough from standard games, when the waggle games have been in all other ways just about exactly the same, with only two notable exceptions.

I guess people just like FPS. I mean, Halo 3, COD4, and The Orange Box are 3 completely different games and provide different experiences.

They are very similar. Not exactly the same, but I get tired of samey games easily. Like Blood Will Tell. Viewtiful Joe and Samurai Warriors all played close together made me tired of action games for about a year. Even my favorite genre, adventure, I can only take in limited amounts. The way people buy a rpg of FPS every month seems excessive and redundant.

The only Wii game I've played so far where waggle is just a button replacement has been Billy & Mandy. I am not sure which two games you are talking about, but Z&W, Wario, Sports, even Metroid use the waggle for things that are not the same with simple button pushing. Though I am not sure what that has to do with buying the same genre over and over.

Only 2 of them are in the same genre. There haven't been 10 games worth playing in ANY genre in the Wii lifespan.  Etoilet OWNZORED.  Bu bu bu WII HAS VARIETY, OWNED.

FTR, they are:

1. CoD4
2. Mass Effect
3. Tomb Raider
4. Screwjumper
5. Assassin's Creed
6. GH3
7. Streets of Rage
8. DW Gundam
9. Lego Star Wars
10. Bioshock

You seem genuinely impressed that a shit/bin shovelware title outsold a decent game, but then again you are a Nintendo fan.

There's a lot of shovelware that gets outsold by 'flagship' titles.

Jesus fuck you guys are failing. I never said Wii had variety. I am speaking about something that I never understood. It is the same with PC gaming. I can only buy 1 or 2 PC games a year, because of the lack of genres. I just normally buy the best in a genre and that is it. I'd buy Bioshock and Orange Box for they are different enough, but not Halo and Orange Box, for I'd do multi and single with Orange Box.

Soul Calibur and Tekken are different in ways, but why buy Tekken when I prefer SC so much more? I am just going to be playing SC instead of Tekken. I will just end up playing HL2 instead of Halo.

you can also play games that you don't consider the very best in a genre.  Like a lot of people can find a lot of issues with COD4 (especially in single player) but it's still a really good game.

No, etoilet, you fail.  You are as usual, on a higher horse than even me, except you can't back it up.  Lack of genres?  There's more variety on the 360 than there is the Wii.  The lack of genres complaint in comparing the Wii to the 360 is invalid.  As in there's more variety basically everywhere else.  Except maybe the PS3.

Consoles have gone through it before with fighters and rpgs post-ff7, but since this time it feels close to what hurt PC gaming I guess I am a little more worried because PC gaming never got over it like how the public got over fighters during those years.
