Can we admit that old people are annoying and useless?

Blah blah, we should respect our elders and whatnot - I know. And I'm never not nice to them or anything, but damn they shit me with their slow walking and pushing in front in lines etc.
I used to have to walk to the train station in winter across this field of really deep snow, and the station staff would dig out a path across the field so you wouldn't have snow up to your dick. But it wasn't wide and there was no room for overtaking, so when some old bag was walking across it with her shopping trolley and you were stuck behind her it took about 15 minutes to walk across a 200m field. Ugh.

I have a few issues with old people.

1. Taking forever in the checkout line!
1b. Taking forever in the checkout line, then slowly writing a check.
1c. Taking forever in the checkout line, then slowly digging through a massive purse to find exact change.
2. Blocking your path when you're trying to walk somewhere.
3. Driving when they can't see well or their motor skills are off or something. I knew a girl who had TWO cars totaled, neither accident was her fault, BOTH accidents caused by men over the age of like 85 or something.
4. They smell funny.
5. They think they're always right!



*Obviously this doesn't apply to all old people, it's just a sweeping generalization of quirks I often see in old geezers that really piss me off.

Old people might be annoying at times (especially driving), but if you actually sit down and chat w/ them they have interesting and sometimes rather insightful stories.

You can/do learn from the older generations. Step out of your box and think.

Barring suicide, disease, genetics, or accident, you will all eventually grow old.  And the way younger people treat older people with disregard and disdain more and more as each generation passes, you're really in for a x10 "reap what you sow" end-life scenario.  I find the thought of that hilarious.

I live with my maternal grandparents. I love stories and getting wisdom from old people. But this thread isn't about good old people, it's about shitty annoying old people. Obviously shitty, annoying old people are a subset of old people, and many old people are cool. I don't think anyone's honestly saying that every person over the age of xx sucks.

Well I'm hoping that when I'm old, I'll be the nice old cat lady that bakes cookies for neighborhood kids in exchange for them taking out my trash and shoveling my sidewalk. Hopefully I'll be able to stay cognitively aware and sharp enough to not be slow slow slow. I mean, walking slowly is one thing--move to the side. Taking forever at the checkout is unnecessary if you aren't a slow moron--take your checkbook/change out while the cashier is scanning your shit so that it doesn't take forever at the end. And for god's sake, don't complain about every little thing.
