Just about every time you move the aim stick in Blacksite - you will see some amount of tearing, flicker, jaggies or funky looking shadows ruing an otherwise smooth scene. That part is grossly disappointing as I had high hopes for this game.
Perhaps they will patch it - but having said that;
Its the 6.0 game (with a 1.0 upward slant because i like the setting/genre) that I expected.
For the same reason I like arcadey feeling stuff like Dead to Rights (action game with multiple types of gameplay) I can have some fun with a game like this.
Every type of stage scene is really just average in execution - but still fun none the less if you like some shooting, followed by a large scale take cover gunfight where you take out 40 or so guards (think something like the end of a stage in the old coinop "commando" where the gates open and the enemy soldiers rush you from all directions), followed by some stationary shooting from the back of a jeep/vehicle segment that is on rails followed by some stunt driving of your own while an NPC takes the guns....that is the only reason this kind of game is fun to me - some of it is decently scripted and the on rails segments are great fun.
I dont consider this an FPS. I consider it an arcadey variety game with some shooting segments in between.
Really just what I wanted/expected.
First impressions = 6.0
Take note that I am a whore for B-movie like scifi arcade shooters - I like Jericho - and I liked Shadows of the Empire 64 simply because it was a variety game.
Fans of the genre should rent for some good times.
It doesnt feel worth $60. grab it when its $10 - $20 if you want to buy.
