I dunno, you don:t have to strum during solo sections using those top fret. I wouldn't call them superfluous on the top tier guitar songs or Metallica DLC on Expert

so i took a break from studying to check out rock band.

I like the strat...simply because i love the design of the actual strat. The gh guitars look way too toyish in comparison to their rl counterparts. I like the huge fret buttons as well. BUT i fucking hate the strum bar. Its not as noisy as the GH one, but it's not as rewarding when you don't get that click. The strum bar mechanism looks stupid, im pretty sure they could have designed something better. The bar hitting against foam contacts is what gives it that squishy feeling and i honestly hate it. it bothers the fuck out of me. maybe i'll get used to it after a while.

Having never handled a GH controller, I can say two things.

First, the strat feels great. The way the fret board buttons are across the whole neck really helps simulate fretting, and the strum bar is silent (no lame clicking like I see in GH vids or on South Park.)

I've owned two real strats, the attention to detail on this toy is impressive. I even hold it like a mini-strat, wrenching it's thin neck in my crippled cobain-like grasp.

That said, mine broke in two days. I finally sent for my coffin last night (I wanted to ensure I got a 'better' one.) I hope the next one I get works, however I am going to buy GHII and it's guitar as my backup/bass/maybe main controller if the strat continues to act flaky.

I heard the Les Paul was a better controller than the Gibson though, if that's the case I may go that way.

I think I'll like the songlist and notechart of GHII a LOT better than III though, judging by that video you posted of that five year old shredding. That doesn't look fun to me, I like rock a lot more than Metal.

I'll probably end up with both games when all is said and done.

Im not judging the game based off that expert notechart, I was going by the songlist. GHII is way more my style, although, I do love Slash.

Would you GH vets recommend a Les Paul or a Gibson as my Rock Band supplemental guitar?

Price doesn't matter that much, and wireless doesn't matter at all. Which controller seems to be the most reliable/sturdy/feels best?

I'll get that bundle and the other game loose.

edit: Being a somewhat real guitarist, I harbor no illusions of ever beating either game or Rock Band on expert. I bet I can handle hard but we'll see. Easy drums about killed me a couple of times, but I have no rhythm so that was no surprise.
