Recommend me a book
« on: December 17, 2007, 09:04:14 PM »
I got this really awesome 30% off coupon for Borders. The problem is it only covers 1 book instead of the combined order. My first idea was to get some manga to feed the japfag inside but, I was thinking of picking up Shogun, I Am Legend, or starting the Walking Dead series.

According to Boarders, all the have is the book adaption of the I AM LEGEND movie and I don't want that. I want to see the movie but I'd like to own the original book. They also have the CD but come on, I haven't listened to a CD in 2-3 years.

The walking dead series sounds so damn badass. But Ive always gotten static about getting the hardcover at any Boarders in my area. I'd call and they said the have it but I'd get there and they don't.

Shogun is something I keep hearing about on GAF. I looked it up and it sounds pretty cool. I also found out that my Grandfather had the book and loved the TV series. So thats kinda cool aswell.

Theres also the Dark Tower series. My Nana used to read all King's books and this series was her favorite. If they had a hardcover of the series or set at a decent price I wouldn't mind getting that. I could read it and she could finally finish it.

If anyone has any better ideas please share. No Erotica, Romance, Movie Adoptions, Shitty or Harry Potter books.

Both Walking Dead and the original I am Legend are well worth your money. Comics are always overpriced so what i'd do is use the coupon on WD, then convince yourself that the money you saved with the coupon is actual real-world cash, then use that cash to buy I Am Legend on Amazon like I did.

Get The Zombie Survival Guide instead.

World War Z is poorly written, suspenseless, and tries to inject High School level political commentary with all the ham-fisted subtlety of a mongoloid jerking off.  See, according to World War Z, the reason the zombie situation got so out of hand is that Americans were too war-weary from wars in the Middle East to put up any fight.  I shit you not.

Little Bitch, I saw both Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead in theaters.  I was lovin the dead before your first crotch pimple erupted into a pube.

Seek out an anthology called The Book of the Dead, edited by John Skipp and Craig Spector:

It's fucking awesome. World War Z doesn't hold a candle to it.  It's like comparing H.P. Lovecraft to Goosebumps.

Man, I really need to setup an elaborate backup book momentum. I keep finishing a book and theres a good few days where I'm without one. I keep saying I'll start buying off of Amazon but I keep going back to Barnes and Nobles.

I'm serious about Book of the Dead, if anyone here is interested in Zombie stuff.

Foreword by George Romero

Authors (all-original fiction) include:

Stephen King
Ramsey Campbell
Joe R. Lansdale
David J. Schow
Robert R. McCammon

390 pages of good zombie stuff, with only a couple of clunkers.  You can get a copy from that link above, shipped, for about $7.

Neuromancer.

Buy it, and then have a multiple-nerdgasm in the corner after reading it.
