Woody Allen - The Insanity Defense (collection of his old magazine pieces)

i'm a woody allen fanatic and i'm so so happy that this collection came into print as an omnibus edition.  I remember having to hunt down a british edition of the complete prose of woody allen because it was a better value having it shipped form the UK than to pay $24 to get the three slim US edition which were comprised in this volume.

Modern Library did a brief "Comedy and Wit" run where they tried to bring some stuff back into print like some SJ Perelman, some Nora Epharon and some public domain stuff like Mark Twain.  Sadly, the line was limited to those four books.  I'd have loved to see someone bring some of the Mel Books books and the other great, but long out of print comedians.

For acquiring out-of-print comedy, I've found that having Jewish grandparents is a useful method.

I scored a used copy of Crimson Skies for $3 at GS, with the original manual and packaging. While I like the idea of Xbox Originals, I can't pay $15 to download something I can get for much cheaper.

I did some Boxing Day shopping. Bought a jacket, sweater, my 30th flannel shirt, and a t-shirt. Also got MP3 speakers for free at Old Navy.

It's HANUKKAH for me, but I got stuff all this past month, so whatever:

Present to myself:

Unreal Tournament III (PS3)

Haven't really played this yet.  Keep going back to Halo 3 instead...

Present from the parents (via the cash they sent):

Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo 8gb

Makes a hacked PSP :bow even better!

Mai Shiranui (Capcom Vs. SNK 2) from game artist Kinu Nishimura

Probably the most popular toy out there at the moment.  This is the second time it's been remade.  I was hoping to sell it off down the line for a profit, but there's too many of them out there, it seems.  Maybe in a year.

Present from the wife (she covered 23,000 yen's worth of the price...same amount as a coat I bought for her):

iPod Touch (16gb)

Love it!  Afraid the screen is going to get scratched to hell and can't find a good case!  :'(

It's been talked about a bit in the gaming forum.  I only played it once, just to try it out...visually it looks like Gears of War, at least in cinemas, with more going on (more characters on screen) and a LOT more color.  The game seems kinda weird using the PS3 dual shock though.  I think I may switch to mouse and keyboard but I do prefer pads for console gaming.  There's maps and mods already out now, too.

Sweet, I just jailbroke my iPod Touch.  Now it can run a ton of third party apps, including stuff like Mail, Weather, and Google maps from the iPhone.  And it will install all this stuff RIGHT FROM THE IPOD ITSELF via the internet...no PC needed!  Jailbreak :bow

Yeah I know! :hyper

I was just washing my hands in the bathroom downstairs. I didn't turn the light on since it's right off the kitchen and that light was on, so it was very dim in there. Anyway, I caught a glimpse in the mirror of my earrings twinkling in the little bit of light just now. I LOVE them.

Also, iPod Touch sounds cool!

From my parents:
17 pairs of socks,
3 pairs of boxers,
A pair of jeans
and a nose and ear hair trimmer.

---

From Nikki:
A small 2 gallon aquarium for my office,
A bunch of stuff to go with it,
A tiny bottle of hot sauce,
Some homemade coasters
and 2 pictures of me & Nikki for my desk.

---

From Nikki's parents:
A bottle of CaJohn's 2006 vintage Legend sauce,
and a Dave's Insanity sauce gift pack.

---

From my sister:
A pack of ingredients to make my own beer bread.

---

Let it hereby be known that I told everyone except my sister multiple times that I didn't want ANYTHING for Christmas. To be honest, I'm in love with the idea of 17 new heavenly pairs of socks. That's like 3 weeks of heaven on my feet at work.
