How Do you like my pasty white skin now?

People with darker skin produce less vitamin D from sun exposure than people with lighter skin. Obviously that is why there was a major selective pressure for light skin in Northern latitudes. Canada is pretty far north and doesn't get as much sunlight as most countries. What does this mean for Canada's non-white population?

Quote
Vitamin D tests conducted on a group of University of Toronto students have found that virtually all non-whites had insufficient levels of the sunshine vitamin, putting them at elevated risk of debilitating diseases such as osteoporosis, cancer and diabetes.

The research, which is awaiting publication in a medical journal, found that 100 per cent of those of African origin were short of vitamin D, as were 93 per cent of South Asians (those of Indian or Pakistani origin), and 85 per cent of East Asians (those of Chinese, Indochinese or Filipino origin, among other countries).

Quote
Insufficient vitamin D amounts were also found among those of European ancestry, but were less widespread, at 34 per cent of those surveyed.

Keep in mind this study was conducted in Toronto, one not in Edmonton, or even Yellow Knife.

Are they lost? Did their car break down on their way to civilization?

No they all died of  osteoporosis, cancer and diabetes all at once.  The two that stayed are PD black if you know what I mean.

Actually black people don't live in Saskatchewan because they all jumped off the underground railroad before they reached us.
"Saskatchewan?"  "Shit North Dakota isn't that bad".

They must have all been sick of farming already I guess.

t would take someone with dark skin of African or South Asian ancestry about 60 minutes at the same time of day to make the amount of vitamin D that a person of European ancestry would make in about 10 minutes, estimates Reinhold Vieth, one of Canada's top vitamin D experts and a professor in the department of nutritional sciences at the University of Toronto.

As soon as I used the words 'major selective pressure' you turned your brain off. Admit it!
