I think I just did something extremely illegal.

So today I went to Home Depot to pick up some stuff to repair my car after I rear-ended somebody going to Santa Cruz on Friday (wtf makes a highway with 40 mph U-turns?) but there was only minor damage to my car and no damage or scratch on his SUV.  anyways, I was on De Anza (near the Apple HQ) and this guy ahead of me riding a Harley tries passing the car ahead of him by going through the left hand lane that was opening up but he hits the curb and flips right onto it with his shoulder and rolls a little.  I stopped and put on the emergency lights and went to help him.  He was able to get up but he said his shoulder hurt a lot.  His bike seemed all right other than a broken left tail light and broken mirror.  This other guy also pulled over to help him.  I of course ask the guy if he wants a police of ambulance.  He says no that he's all right.  He asks us to just help him get his bike up so we get it up and he gets on it and rides away.  Now that I think about it, I think the guy was under the influence because of his reactions but he might have just been dazed.  I'm sure you're supposed to call the cops though.

Someone wrecked in a single-vehicle accident and you stopped and asked them if they were okay, they said they were, and then you drove away. There's nothing wrong with that. What are you afraid of getting charged with, breaking a Good Samaritan law? "Extremely illegal" would be if you accidentally ran over him after he fell off his bike, and then stuffed the body in your trunk and then dumped it in a creek later.
