Do you ever win an ebay auction and......
« on: December 25, 2007, 07:33:37 AM »
I bought this Castlevania soundtrack 2-disk off of ebay earlier.

Soon after - some random third party user starts sending me messages telling me the disk I bought is an illegal bootleg and all kinds of other stuff.

He isnt really asking for anything.....

Why the fukk is this greese-monkey stalking my transaction with this seller?

I really dont give a fukk - bootleg or not - it has the WAV and MIDI files I want.

ok here is what happened - it was a ton of drama....

So it all started the other day when I was telling a friend that he REALLY needs to get his ass a copy of CastleVania Chronicles for PSOne as the old JP Sharp computer version BLOWS away NES CastleVania (the more home version like game that was so tame I could beat it on one life).

I have a notion to just buy it for him or quickly point him in the direction of a deal so I wind up on ebay as the game is pretty rare these days.

While on ebay I see the soundtrack which I know nothing about - but one quick glance at the seller feedback and the track listing has me clicking "buy it now" faster than i can think..

Hours later I get messages from multiple users telling me that the 2 disk set is a bootleg (not like burn disks - but Chinese counterfeit replicas that are illegal outside of china)

I finally decide to tell the seller to just refund my $$.

Ebay contacts me and tells me that the listing has complaints that are being investigated.

The seller refunds my $$ and I actually feel bad for him as nobody told him this entire time so now he has to pay the ebay fees associated with the sale etc.. which is annoying....agreed on that part.

That is the short version - but man I had no idea so many ebay neighborhood watch members were cruisin rare JP game soundtrack auctions on a christmas eve.

that sounds hella fucked up.  I've never heard of anything like that on ebay.
