Video Watchdog is a digest sized full color glossy magazine devoted to "fantastic cinema" that is, genre stuff. They cover everything that is genre related. To put it in their words
Horror, science fiction, mystery, film noir, animation, exploitation, sleaze, martial arts, fantasy from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST to the Bond series, even the most dreamlike examples of European and Asian art and action cinema. If it stands outside the mainstream, if it takes you outside the bounds of your own imagination, it's VIDEO WATCHDOG material!
while at the same time they also do extensive interviews with people you won't often get extensive interviews from (including an awesome 2 part carreer retrospective of Burt I. Gordon). They have contributers like Joe Dante (director of Gremlins, The Howling, etc), Ramsey Campbell (acclaimed horror author), and the Editor and primary driving force behind the magazine is Tim Lucas. Tim just released his magnum opus All The Colors of the Dark, a book on Mario Bava which is over one thousand pages long and is all primary research, he's also just released a 144 page examination of Videodrome (ahem, white man).
If you have any interest at all in the film genres listed above, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
you can get "scratch and dent" issues for just $5 shipped. From this link if you're interested in checking it out. warning; older issues are not all in color, but are just as great.
