I was thinking about that when I was making this. I have lots of games I only played for a little while. Like Zelda. But then, I only played LTTP and got somewhat far into the game, so I didn't count that. Also Metroid, which I just started a few weeks ago and play it every now and then. Just got those highjump boots. Not really far.

Not sure if this counts but I own a 360 and I never bought Halo 3, Mass Effect, or the Orange Box. In fact, the only 360 game I played and finished this fall was Naruto.

I finished Halo 1 and 2 and got sick of the franchise a couple years back. Maybe I'll rent Halo 3 just for the sake of finishing the trilogy...

Nope. I fail at gaming this year. :(

To be honest, I just started dental school this fall so I haven't had that much time to game. However, I managed to finish these games (while passing my courses :lol):

Wii:
Super Mario Galaxy (120 stars with Mario)
NiGHTS

360:
Naruto (needed a short game)
Virtua Fighter 5 (4th Dan online)

PS3:
Ninja Gaiden Sigma

I already know that if I ever were to start with WoW my life would be over. I get easily addicted to these kind of things and I happen to have a strange favour for grinding. So I'm never gonna play these for sure.

same, they might be good but I've never played any of them.  I think I was off-put by how many different times they tried to make platforming games.

I also have never played a Square Enix game as far as I know (beyond 2 whole minutes with FFX or a demo of one of their games).

I also haven't played Diablo.  I was a little below the normal gamer age for this I think when it came out and I'm worried it has aged badly.  apparently it's just an RPG and it has an online co-op mode of some sort and considering people still play it, I should probably give it a try.

and cajole, don't listen to Mondain on the warcraft RTS and Starcraft.  fucking awesome games.  I haven't played WC1 or 2 in a long time but WC3 is still really damn good.  full of pretty CG movies too.  starcraft is just so fucking classic.  If I had to spend a year with only one game, I would choose that honestly.

If you call Crash shitty it's super obvious you never played any of them. They are superior over the Mario games.

Crash 1 was good when it came out, Crash 2 was meh as some of the gems were too hidden (try jumping on nitro boxes, ones a magic warp box omg), 3 was really great. Played the 1st PS2 one (wrath of cortex maybe?) was a fucken turd so havent touched the series since

Crash 1 is the worst game of the series. The controls are so clunky and inaccurate. Wonder why anyone would prefer that over the sequels. 2 was actually the best. 3 was almost equal and the time trials were fuckawesome.

Actually, I rented Crash back in the day and it was shit. I returned it back to Blockbuster that same night.

The number one necessity of a platformer is CONTROL. Crash was a pile of shit in that regard.

I only said it was good when it came out, sure controls were garbage but it was 1996 and the 3d thing was pretty new to me

Yes Crash 1. Thinking back on it .. it was less the controls, and more the "play on rails" type of gameplay. Whioch is true of most platformers .. but it seemed so CRAMPED on those early stages. Then the 100 crates that littered each stage.

Maybe it got more varied and more interesting later on .. but I only lasted a few hours. It definitely wasn't better than Rayman.

Well there you go then, just like I said in post 29, Crash 1 is horrible. I would go as far and call it one of the worst 3D platformers ever.

Crash 2 did a perfect 180 turn. The controls are perfectly responsive and makes for excellent control. Its the best 3D control ever for a platformer. I think it's too bad that you wrote off the series so quick based on a first shitty adaption. Crash Bandicoot is all about skill and fast gameplay. I dare you to play the later and hidden levels without dying at least 30 times.

Truth be told, I am a weaksauce gamer for platformers. I got my fill of ridiculously hard ones during my NES days. I could ace games like Ghost n' Goblins and Contra ... but by the 16-bit era I could not finish games like Earthworm Jim, Chakan or Contra III. I think I just lost the will to redo levels 100 times.

That's why I hold Mario 64 (and Bajo Kazooie) in high regard. It was a 3D game that was challenging, but completely beatable for even novices. It struck the right balance.
