movies quoted most by friends and family
« on: December 27, 2007, 12:08:38 AM »
pd's cinematic distinguished mentally-challenged in another thread led me, strangely, to this tangent. in his post, he remarked that his family quoted "aliens" more than any other, which i took to mean that his home-schooled degenerate siblings frequently emitted pitch-shifted cougar squeals while defecating on the couch or occasionally roused themselves from post-meth slumbers to weakly offer "game over, maaaan...game over..."

i'd venture that among my family and friends -- none of which are home-schooled, although that would seem a reflexive definition, i.e. they wouldn't be my friends if they WERE home-schooled -- "the big lebowski" is by far and away the most quoted. usually we get "you're like a child who has wandered into a theatre, donny", "the war is over, lebowski, and the bums lost" (also "i say 'get a job, sir!'"), "nobody fucks with the jesus", "i'll suck your cock for a thousand bucks", countless takes on "shut the fuck up, donny", and the ever popular "this is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass!"

runner up is caligula, thanks to tvc: rarely does a lunch go by without "proculus, you ARE a virgin!" or "if all of rome had just one throat..."

what's yer quotes, fagbags? if anyone picks star wars, G T F O

Yeah, Aliens and True Grit are most quoted among the folks. Perhaps the most used line is "someone wake Hicks up!"

While camping: "every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune. I love the core"

Before bible class: "lets roll!"

Mid-way through April: "I dunno if you've been keeping up with current events but we just got our asses kicked"

Is this limited just to movies? TV shows are probably quoted much more by my friends and family (Seinfeld, AD)

Anyhow, The Big Lebowski is fairly high up there, as are Arnold lines (from various movies). I really can't think of any particular movies that are quoted regularly nowadays.

I've got everyone on a Pan's Labyrinth kick, so people have been speaking Spanish in an innocent Ofeila-like voice for days...

"Hola!"

"Buenos noches!"

My best friends probably quote two three things more than anything else:

"He's flying on rooftops!" - Batman Begins
"That's right, Ice. I am dangerous!" - Top Gun
"I like money." - Idiocracy

When I start driving fast I'll sometimes say, "Let's see if these bastards can do 90."  If someone tells me they love me, I'll sometimes say, "I know."    And I really want to someday yell, "God, I LOOOVE BEING A TUUUUURRTLEEEEE!!," during sex.

I quote LOST and Arrested Development a lot, way more often than I quote movies.

Edit: If I'm in the right company, I will quote GI JOE the movie a lot.  So many great quotes.

I can't recall the name of the documentary off hand but we were watching some film on the inner-city and there was some 40 year old guy named Split P that died "battle dancing" outside the Honey Hole trying to do a flip.  After they give a run down on what happened they turn the camera to one of the guys that was watching and he said "Well, that's watcha get when ya battle dance."

I don't know why we all think that's funny.  It just is damnit.  I don't think there isn't a day that goes by that we don't say that line at least once for just about any circumstance.  Have to go visit Angie's parents?  Well that's watcha get for battle dancin'.  Walk the dog?  Battle dance.  Going to the store?  Well then make sure to stop over by the Honey Hole and battle dance.

Not really at all what you're looking for, but that's what's going on over here.

My friends back in Atlanta and I would definitely quote The Big Lebowski at each other a lot.  But then again, we were all such big movie distinguished mentally-challenged fellows we would kind of play a game where we would try to stump each other with movie quotes.  I won a lot of stump battles right after Idiocracy came out, let me tell you.

We probably quote Futurama more than anything. I've used the Bathroom exchange more than once:

Fry: Where's the bathroom?
Bender: The what room?
Fry: The bathroom.
Bender: The bath what?
Fry: The bathroom.
Bender: The what what?

Me and brother will toss around Mystery Science Theater 3000 quotes sometimes too.

it used to be reservoir dogs. and not really quotations that have any place in a sane conversation.

'how bout a little remy martin'

'she was a good little thief'

'dick dick dick dick dick dick dick'

'buddy, i am gonna shoot you in the FACE'

'shit your pants and dive in'

'cause you're a taco, alright'

She'll throw out the Ludacrious Speed one every once in a while. I hear that the Spaceballs DVD has a special feature where the movie plays in Ludacrious Speed; from start to finish, it takes less than 30 seconds.  :lol

What the hell does Locke say in season 1 that's worth repeating?  All I can remember is a bunch of toothy grins and some knife throwin'.

Tell him to start memorizing some of Sawyer's lines.  At least that'd be entertaining.

As an aside, I dare anyone to say this isn't the best goddamn fight scene ever.  Better than They Live.

Recently, mainly the Departed, although we quote Star Wars quite a lot (OT)

Not any of the usual ones that are quoted to death. For me, it's hard for me to not put the "YOU'LL BE DEAD" after anyone says that they will be careful for some reason. Mainly since I've probably seen Episode IV a total of 300000 times.

My family or I very rarely quote movies. Infact I can't think of anytime that I've heard them do so.

My best friend quotes family guy all the time, to the point where it's almost annoying.
