Doctor Who: Voyage of the Damned (Christmas Special)
« on: December 27, 2007, 03:39:17 PM »
It's now available on the torrent sites. I downloaded it last night and just got finished watching it.

It was decent, and much better than last year's abortion of a Christmas special, but it just didn't do too much for me. The villain sucked, and honestly:

They killed off Kylie Minogue's character, who could have been a better fucking companion than the one that is going to be around for this season, that's for sure. Fuck.

Overall, it was okay, but there were a lot of attempts at doing good things that just never really were fulfilled. Not only that:

One of the biggest assholes to the Doctor throughout the entire episode ended up living, and prospering from the shit that happened during the episode. What the fuck. What a lousy message and ending.

Anyways, I better strap myself in. Here are some spoilers from the preview at the end of the episode for this upcoming season

Evidently they are going full stream with the "Doctor romance" storyline. He said something like "I'm looking for a mate (which could mean friend I guess)" and Catherine Tate was like "Well, you aren't going to mate with me."

The Ude are fucking back (characters that TVC 15 said had vaginafaces). The last episode with the Ude was one of my favorite two-parters in the new series.

Lots of gunfire in the preview, obviously some attempts at humor in the dialogue.

Overall, I'm slightly looking forward to the next season, but I think I will want to kill Catherine Tate before the end of it. I can feel the need arising already from the Season 4 Preview at the end of the episode.

I still have yet to watch it.  I have it on my lappy right now, but I am gonna be occupied the next few days.

I think Catherine Tate is right for the series.  People keep saying they want Sally to be the new companion, but we don't need Cute Girl Number 3.  At least Tate's character is a little different, and no way she will be as shrill as she was in her Xmas episode.

The preview suggests otherwise.  :-\

I thought the whole thing was pretty good (particularly for Russel T. Davies episode).
