So I'm trying to decide what to buy
« on: December 28, 2007, 03:34:47 AM »
I got a $25 Visa Gift Card for Christmas (Can those even be used to buy something that's more than $25? Can I buy a $50 book online using the card + money from my checking account or something? That might make this thread a moot point.), and I'm trying to decide what to buy with it.

I've been looking at the following books lately:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1590598849/ref=wl_it_dp?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1ZU8CWA4QDV5J&colid=P0ZBWWV8URMV
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0393058298/ref=wl_it_dp?ie=UTF8&coliid=IXBLHZ5V3QQBY&colid=P0ZBWWV8URMV
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0609608932/ref=wl_it_dp?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2Y6PHMEN61I0W&colid=P0ZBWWV8URMV
http://www.amazon.com/Beowulf-New-Verse-Translation-Bilingual/dp/0393320979/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1198826845&sr=8-1

So where do I go from here? Buy a book or two? Fuck it all and spend the money on other stuff?

Seamus Heaney's Beowulf is the most fun it's ever been to read.  I've read a few different translations of Beowulf, and Heaney's is the best at making it entertaining.  The man is a tight poet so he knows his shit.

But I don't have experience with the other books, so I'm really not much of a help here.
