I had a launch PS2 and quickly sold it.  I pretty much sat out the last round of consoles - I had all three for a limited period of time, the Xbox lasting the longest.  I pretty much kept to the PC.  So, I've never really dabbled in the PS2, except for at friend's.  I'm getting a free PS2, but no games, so I wondered if there was a super cheap PS2 game I should pick up (I can't afford anything over $8).

don't buy any of those artsy fartsy japo crap games like okami and god hand

get Devil May Cry 3 and God of War (1 and 2) - that should keep you busy

theres like... nothing under $8 worth getting, unless that counts after your discount and edge card

God Hand is hardly artsy fartsy.

Get God Hand, Devil May Cry 3, and throw in some Bombastic.

You can find Devil May Cry 1 at a cheaper price. It's still worth playing. I mean, some folks pimp Ninja Gaiden amirite?

Well, NG1 aged well, since it's a 2004 game.

DMC1 might be a little ugly now, dunno how it aged TBH.

I played it for the first time less than a year ago, and while the graphics are pretty shitty, it was still damn fun to play. I never finished it because I just kinda got sidetracked. I'm just gonna play through DMC3 now before DMC4 comes out.

I loved DMC1, skipped DMC2, and did NOT enjoy DMC3. It was frustratingly difficult. Don't pick up DMC3 unless it's the SE.

Hell, I wouldn't pick up any of the old DMC games with DMC4 right around the corner. Buy GoW 1/2 instead.

jak and daxter (i can only vouch for that one since i've never played the sequels) is a great platformer if you're into those kind of games. and if you get mgs3, you should definitely go with subsistence.

Yes! I completely forgot about it, but the original Jak and Daxter is one of the best 3D platformers ever.
