You've already embarrassed yourself Cheebs, why not watch the movie for yourself as I suggested ages ago?
Diary of a Mad Black Woman is not a good movie. It's hilarious at times, but far too preachy for me. Basically the entire second half of the film takes a 360 into megachurch territory. That being said, it's not the worse thing ever, and I'm not particularly shocked that many white people find the films so "bad". You have no frame of reference to the characters and concepts presented in the film, even if you are a church going person. I would bet that Himu and Beezy like certain aspects of the film in part because it reminds them of situations they've witnessed, people they know, etc. I don't give a fuck what Roger Ebert has to say about this type of film. I do know that nearly every member of my extended family has seen the movie, and all my female family members like it. Despite not being a strictly religious film many black churches actually show it on weekends, and older people are brought to the church on church buses just to see it (including my grandma) lol.
Why Did I Get Married is horrible - Diary isn't. But to dismiss Perry's films and be upset he's going to star in your shitty Star Trek remake without even being familiar with his work is stupid; didn't you just get on people for dismissing Juno without seeing it? I like you, but omg Cheebs wtf
Go rent the movie
