I don't want to burst your bubble, but read up on it.  I am fairly sure your control is kinda limited.  Can't cite examples, but some months back I had to do some partition shit, and, well, Vista alone couldn't do it.  Then again, I was probably doing something fancy.

Holy shit, Windows Vista sucks! Hello Partition Magic!

(also, what TVC said--Vista's partition control is pretty limited compared to Partition Magic)

It seems to be limiting the amount I can shrink the Partition itself :(

But a more feature rich built in tool would be appreciated. I tried installing my old Partition Magic app and Vista was all like "Don't install this shit, yo. This be havin' known issues". I'm going to fidget with it a little more but if I can't shrink the volume down so I get atleast 20gigs of space, I'll have to abort.

It could be fragmentation causing that.  I see no reason such a limit would be built into partition controls.  Download a good visual defragger and see if your shit is too spread, like your mama's puzzy lips.

I thought I could live with my external HDD but Adobe PS Lightroom is thrashing my External HDD like a mofo and now its acting weird. I think it would like having the large picture files straight on the HDD instead of going back and forth through the USB 2.0 super highway.

Also, Adobe PS Lightroom fucken rocks

Partitions are good so you can have a non destructible partition thats not containing the Operating System (for Reinstallation purposes).

Yep, I'm Defragmenting now and I ran the Disk Cleaner before that...I appearently had an old Windows Install that was taking up 18GB :rofl wtf

Vista lets you split away partitions, but no more than half of an existing partition, so you'll always wanna work from the largest partition. Its neat, and useful for MOST of my situationss...moreso than XP ever was.

I never need more than that, but if I did id probably get partition magic

Yep, same here

I don't really need to rearrange Data but simply creating another Partition with the already empty space. Once you start moving the physical location of massive amounts of Data on the HDD (gigs and gigs), thats when shit gets hardcore. I always clench my butt whenever I used Partition Magic to move 40GB+ of Data when I didn't think ahead and create the Partition setup I wanted.
