The one thing Twilight princess did right was make the iron boots actually fun to use with the magnetic walls and cielings. I hated using them in all the previous Zeldas.

The overworld was a huge disappointment to me, and the towns were the most boring since Zelda 1 on the NES in my opinion.

You know, they should just get rid of towns in the next Zelda. Simply just focus on exploring and battles, and cut out most of the bullshit. I would actually consider that an evolution of the series if they ever did this.

I liked the towns in Link to the Past and Majora's Mask, etc. Twilight Princess didn't have anything interesting going on in its towns, and no one interesting to talk to.

The Wii version isn't 16:9 unless you've got a 16:9 TV. I fiddled with the settings for a half hour before I gave up.

I was hoping the fucking thing would run letterboxed on my 4:3 TV, but instead Yamauchi decided to fuck me in the tender ass.

Twilight Princess kind of stunk.  I'm convinced that the designers were really in love with the Wind Waker concept, only to hear all the negative feedback from stupid gamers (there are real design problems with that game, but the art design is not one of 'em) and the constant bickering for basically another Ocarina of Time.  So, it seems obvious to me at least, they tried to cram as much Ocarina of Time fan service into this adventure without thinking it through or developing a world as fun as that game - and the result is just a ton of old shit you've seen before haphazardly connected together or just dropped into the world altogether.

i really like twilight princess

it's not perfect, but the dungeon design is really flawless for a lot of the game.

IMO you'll see a sunshine : galaxy :: tp : next zelda  (space for clarity)          type distilation of pure gameplay for the Wii's next Zelda IF Nintendo does not fuck it up by making it all wagglish and such. galaxy had the luxury of being in development before waggle became so infamous; zelda does not have that luxury.

Don't know how you can say the team was in love with making WW. Judging by all the design decisions in the game, it was clearly a rush job.

I think they nailed the final boss fight's atmosphere, it's just that it was too easy.  Gone are the days of stockpiling potions for boss fights in Zelda.   :(

Not really.  The art design and atmosphere was fantastic - the only thing that was rushed were dungeons.  The dungeons in the game were ten times better than the ones in Twilight Princess.  Quality over quantity, my friend.  Almost everything in Wind Waker was done better, save for overworld transportation.  If anything, it looks like they just unloaded stuff on Twilight Princess as fan service.

Dude, dungeons and overworld exploration are the meat and potatoes of a Zelda game. If you bork on either of them, there's no way you could proclaim it's better. That's like saying Bush was a great president...aside from the whole Iraq thing. ;)

And I liked the dungeons in WW well enough (tower of the Gods/Wind Temple :bow), but TP has better dungeons overall.

Yes, and Wind Waker does both better than Twilight Princess.

Well, in any case, I do agree that people like Aonuma at least seemed butthurt by the reaction toward WW (especially from his last interview), and he seems to have held onto that grudge throughout TP's development.

I thought TP's game design was worse than WW's. I liked WW's overwold, and found TP's to be absolutely boring. I loved WW's side quests, and found pretty much all of TP's (aside from the one where you learn new moves and fishing of course) sucky.

I also think WW had a better story. I mean, I don't care for plots in Zelda in general, but WW is the only Zelda with a cohesive story, and Zelda isn't a total wimp either. She's bad ass in WW.

I honestly think the only thing TP has over WW are dungeons. The dungeons are fucking awesome.
