Never played the PS2 Yahkuza games.  I think I read somewhere that they were like Shenmue though.....that right there was the deal breaker.

I LOVED the first Yakuza.

but this really feels like an upscaled Yak 1/2 ... same engine ... same semi-janky but fun fighting ... hell in some ways it feels WORSE...town in Scenario mode is way less populated...ugh. I dunno. I'm hoping they just stripped a lot of the fun/techniques out of the demo.

Please don't turn this into a PS3 bashing thread in my grief. :'(

no next-gen features to speak of; Havok is effectively MIA, no facial animation/lipsynch voice acting. Battle system and menus are 100% identical to RGG1 and 2.

The only game Yakuza 3 will be compared to by fans of the Yakuza series will be Yakuza 1 or 2.
It's progression or comparison to other games is entirely pointless.
If it is the same as the previous two games and doesn't advance the series at all other than setting it in feudal Japan and a free camera , then that is massively disappointing.

Whether LO is good, bad, more of the same or anything is neither here nor there.

No. That just happens to be the most common score i would give the games i play. they wouldn't be a 9 or 10 because they have still have a lot of flaws. I wouldn't give a 9 or 10 to everything.
