This is the guy responsible for Jar Jar Binks. I believe he's that stupid.
Even if they are destroyed, the movie can still be mostly fixed from the special edition cuts. Using the laserdisc cut as a visual model, the digital elements could be wiped and replaced with recreated natural scenery.
The movie can still be saved, we just have to hope Lucas dies relatively soon. All the footage is still in there, it just needs to be put back together correctly.
