I kinda do now, too.  I'm not super smart about classic cartoons, so I didn't even know Tex Avery did Droopy (it's not like I read up on the subject that often).  Tex Avery's stuff is awesome, and I know I used to like Droopy when I was younger.

i have it in my queue...somewhere

my love of more obscure cinema popped up after the rise of dvd and so his films exist mostly as curiosity because it took so long for them to come out in R1.

i am still waiting for them to release an actor's revenge in R1.

I wish they'd do a collection of Tex Avery stuff in general, specifically the MGM stuff.  I believe he directed 65 cartoons for MGM (including Droopy), and that's about how many are included in those Looney Tunes collections, so they could knock out the entire thing in one boxed set.

I asked for the Jodorowsky set for my birthday from my sibilings, so if I don't get it, I'm going to disown them.

the loony tunes collections are good in themselves though.

did you catch Joe Dante's Loony Tunes Back in Action?  It was damn near perfect for a Loony Tunes movie.

I love the Looney Tunes sets, so much special feature good in there.

I've never seen any of the live-action Looney Tunes films, but I have heard that's the good one.

IIRC, the set is actually fairly cheap for what you get.  Like 40 bucks for three great transfers of three totally bizarre movies.  Two awesome soundtracks, and a healthy selection of extras.  It is the Orange Box of awesome weirdness.

yeah, it is.  it's really really good.

i don't want to launch into a hyperbolic frenzy as internet posters are wont to do, but if you can, i'd suggest getting it from netflix or something, because it's certainly everything i wanted in a loony tunes movie.

Also, no other movie director has stories as awesome as Jodorowsky.  Because he is completely insane:

Quote
According to Jodorowsky's commentary on the DVD, the audience was enraged at the "corrupting content" of the film. Indeed, the director found himself fleeing for his life at the festival, finally to be whisked away in a limo, which was heavily bombarded by stones thrown by the angry mob. However, the film's controversy didn't stop there. In fact, the film was banned from Mexico by the government, and Jodorowsky himself was nearly deported for the madness the film had created. One of the scenes he points out as being especially disliked involves white-haired women gambling for the chance to suck fruit pits out of a man's mouth. The commentary also states that Sergio Klainer was spreading a rumor that Alejandro Jodorowsky was a vampire, since he insisted that Mariscal's actual blood be used in a scene where a man drinks Lis' blood. At the film premiere, Diana Mariscal was noticed to be abnormally thin causing even more conjecture about vampirism. Alejandro claims she had become thin from an eating disorder.

I know, hence it being on my birthday wishlist.  If I wasn't so strapped, I'd attempt to nab it myself, but stuff like CUPS and A CHAIR take priority.  I'm hoping my sister got it for me - but my birthday is just nine days away!  WHERE IS IT?

Wow.  That sounds pretty sweet actually.  I'll probably bite.
