Dating Market Value quiz - how do you fare?
« on: January 10, 2008, 10:43:46 AM »
Been reading this guy Roissy's blog a lot, he's one of these Internet type alpha male pickup artist folks that is probably very full of shit (see Forza) but his stuff is a fairly entertaining read. He had this quiz on dating market value I read and thought was fairly interesting.

http://roissy.wordpress.com/2007/10/19/dating-market-value/

I had a 6, which puts me in the realm of "classic beta". Gotta work on my actual dialog and conversational skills and try a bit better at acting naturally aloof and slightly jokey/cocky (I'm much better at this after I know a person, but with women you don't really get a chance, they either like you or they don't). I need to heed his words on banging fatties, that I shouldn't make a habit out of it  :lol

How do you folks fare?

EDIT: fixed the link.

Lesser beta.  You don’t immediately disgust girls; they just don’t notice you.  With much painful effort you can redeem yourself.

1 to 9:  Classic beta.  You catch some girls’ eyes, usually the ones you don’t want.  Try not to make fatty fucking a lifestyle.

Sounds like Forza or Futami wrote this though, so it's rather irrelevent

Someone got a negative score, didn't they?

Here be the real test:

Are you a virgin and over 21 years of age and/or out of college?

YES = YOU WILL NEVER GET LAID
NO = CONGRATULATIONS, YOU ARE NORMAL

the drinky crow real-world dating quiz:

1. when a female approaches you in a casual social context, do you:
-1: visibly flinch and then blank her, pretending to be completely interested in a nearby article of furniture
0: look at your feet and mumble something you think might be funny but is in fact a total non-sequitur which could possibly be used against you in court if she dies under mysterious circumstances
+1: look her in the eye, nod in acknowledgment and smile, quietly acknowledging that we are all creatures of stupid ritual
+2: spew a line you remembered from a bad hugh grant romcom, making her insecure self titter

2. you are meeting a woman for the first time and are forced to make conversation. you:
-1: stare and say nothing. in your head, sirens are blaring, and it is possible your cheap slacks have a growing stain near the crotch
0: make deflective observational remarks about your environment
+1: recall a few icebreaker lines and say them, much to your own silent self-loathing
+2: say "BOOYAH!" loudly and do the curly shuffle, reminding the world that you're a fuckin' spectacle of an extrovert

3. you have, by dint of courage, luck, or kidnapping, managed to get a woman at your house in the evening-time. you:
-1: gibber on delightedly about your collection of nintendo tchotchkes and invite her to play the wii because "girls like it"
0: begin plying her and yourself with alcohol in the hopes of getting your fuck on free from the nattering voice of self-doubt
+1: realize that you both want to fuck. there is a rough segue into making out and then animal fucking. you aren't really sure how it came about, but all's well that ends well, motherfuckers!
+2: transition from a series of charming, painfully tailored anecdotes to the bedroom. "i make a good breakfast" is probably somewhere in there, which elicits insincere lolz from both of you. later, you post about this in your blog, which makes your friends hate you even more.

4: you discover that the woman you've been seeing is a fuckall rabid evangelical christian. she also has great tits. you:
-1: don't mind at all. hey, she not only talks to you, but she has allowed that kirby is potentially not satan's hellhound. besides, you like that she provides order to your life, usually in the form of shrieking missives to not bug her for sex. SHE HAS BOOBIES!
0: decide it can't go on like this, so you write her a Dear Jane letter over IM, and then proceed to fall off the grid for three months.
+1: deliver the news of your break-up over your regular lunch at qdoba. you feel like a fuckface for the next two weeks, until you stupidly schmooze up another wacko at an office party. rinse. repeat.
+2: fuck the jesus right out of her. all women are whores, be it for christ or you. better you than the Lord, amirite? u am!

5. a girl flirts with you on a messageboard. you:
-1: flood her with PMs about the Wii
+0: flood her with PMs about random nothing, hoping she'll respond with a romantic invitation
+1: never respond to her, hoping she'll find you "mysterious" and therefore interesting
+2: flood her with PMs containing pictures of your penis, some of which show said penis stuck in other female messageboard posters. also WHIP WHIP

Results!
-5 to -2: nintendo fanboy
-1 to 3: sony fanboy
4 to 7: microsoft fanboy
8 to 10: dating advice blogger

btw, i met a new girl today omg

actually i've vaguely known her for a while but never really paid much attention.  until I heard her mention she was studying category theory and foundations of mathematics!  of course i immediately interposed myself between her and whatever loser was chatting her up and started a new conversation.  i guess i must've come off too eager though, because shortly after I overheard her telling her friend "yeah I was talking to this guy, he always ignored me before but now he's suddenly acting like I'm super-attractive lolwtf"  i dunno if that's a very bad sign or not.   ???   but she does look awfully cute now.  dunno why she never did before

but, later i think we hit it off reasonably well.  she kept wanting to read funny "missed connection" ads from craigslist to me, which seems a somewhat hackneyed pastime since it appeared in ghostworld but amusing enough.  maybe I'll see her again sometime.

30 to 43:  You are officially a nascent alpha female.  A lot of quality guys will hit on you and you will be able to pick and choose at your leisure.  But don’t push it.  You’re not quite hot enough to string guys along forever.

I still think it's weird that they didn't ask anything about income in the female test. I'd imagine it's good to make a decent amount of money, but not too much, because lots of men would be threatened by a woman who makes more than they do.

Men don't really care about how much a woman makes.

Hell, the more money she makes the better.  That way she can pay her share of the tab, give me expensive gifts, and not have to hear about how poor she is, yet buys a daily $5 latte at Starbucks.

The whole "men don't want women making more than them" is something you find in a poorly written sitcom or a poorly thought out Catharine MacKinnon tirade.

I think the people on Roissy's blog (and Roissy himself) see career-oriented women as very shrewd and not very "feminine" in the traditional definition of the word (i.e. patriarchal households where the man is the breadwinner and women stay home to tend for the kids, cook and clean).

Personally, I wouldn't mind a woman that makes more than me, I could live with being the stay-at-home dad I think... Do a bit of cleaning, then spend the rest of the day playing video games and learning how to cook assorted ethnic cuisine, would be awesome methinks.

My opinion about Roissy and the like is that they all watched too much Fight Club and read The Red Queen and believe that this kind of stuff is rigidly defined.  Once its the real world and there are bills that need to be paid, they might have to swallow the bullet that their significant other needs to join the workforce.

I don't really see the possibility of a stay home Dad or Mom in the future.  I don't even know how it is possible now unless you got a nice inheritance or your spouse is a senior executive that makes six figures while living in a low cost of living area.  That or live a working class lifestyle of living paycheck to paycheck.

Then again, I never intend to get married.  If I want kids, I can adopt.

It all depends on how materialistic one is. My brother is married, has 2 kids (another on the way) and makes around $40k a year but does alright. Not much of course, but he and his wife really don't spend much on themselves.
