This is like some horrible nightmare where i went to bed and woke up in a world where mediocrity was suddenly showered with praise.

No one cannot like Azumanga Daioh. It's impossible. Azumanga is like the most impossibly cute thing ever made. Saying you hate it, is like saying that you hate puppies or kittens or animals that have been forced to wear clothes or baby chicks that have been artificially colored pink or blue for Easter. In fact, Azumanga Daioh is like colored chicks riding in tiny little saddles on the back of kittens and puppies wearing a tiny little cowboy hat and vest. Is that boring to you too? Well is it??

FYI, you're probably not even a human anymore, and have already been switched out by a pod person. I'm keeping an eye on you.

Its a shame Cowboy Bebop is now the 'Have you seen Anime? - Yeah Ninja Scroll' because it cheapens what the show is, ultimately. Most of the GOOD anime out there; Evangelion, FLCL, any Satoshi Kon work, Cowboy Bebop, Last Exile, and yes, even my personal favorite but fairly light SLAYERS is a mark above American animated entertainment in terms of content.

Its a good show, its not anime of the ever, but its an extremely interesting series created by a dude who was going through shit everyone goes through. Not often are you allowed to follow a person's catharsis from start to finish. While the series original ending at first release was baffling, the Directors Cut and the movies did a better job presenting the material in the context of the show.

What makes Eureka Seven so popular is it approaches these themes too, but without all the angst and pain of a director going through serious shit. The end result is a much more approachable show.

It started with "Akira, Ghost In The Shell, and Ninja Scroll." Those were the three examples of anime in most peoples' heads for a while. I'm sure now you can add Dragonball Z and a few others.

yeah i think "yeah i've seen anime. i've seen dbz." is more accurate than "yeah i've seen anime. I've seen cowboy bebop."

it seems most folks worship cowboy bebop are already anime fans.

cowboy bebop was a revelation. i hadn't seen an anime like that back when i first watched it. Still my favorite anime tv series to this day.

Yotsuba's out in the USA....I think the last one that came out was volume 6.

Maybe Azuma just wants to wait till he's done with the series before having it turned into animation, I dunno...though I think he's planning on continuing Yotsuba for a lot of years to come.

Yeah, it's hilarious. The characters are so well-realized and Yotsuba really does act like a child her age would (except without all the meanness that kids have at that age), but we better not talk about it TOO much or dcharlie will show up and start raining on our parade.

Cowboy Bebop in terms of the craft is very important, but its themes aren't very compelling as they've been mirrored once again in Samurai Champloo and Ghost in the Shell in parts. Basically to someone new to anime it says 'hay you thought it was all lolis, but its not, its dudes with guns n shit wtf'.

The azumanga dub isnt that good, to be honest. Most of the pure japanese plays on words go over my head and hearing them 'adapted in english' is just as baffling.

i liked the dub, but I can watch it in both languages. I really liked the extra features on the flcl and azumanga dvds because they helped you understand the show a lo more.
