Predator - such a ridiculously simple concept executed so well. I hate watching all these great 80s science-fiction/action films and knowing that Hollywood can't churn out anything as creative anymore.

The Thing is another good movie that Hollywood would totally screw up now. Even though it was mostly just puppets and stuff, those creature effects were insane!

I think the The Thing is a concept that is ripe for a sequel. These hostile alien concepts seem to have one solid sequel in them before their backstory is overexplored and they just become non-awesome monster effects.

if predator 2 were to be made nowadays, it'd probably be a lot worse than the one made in the 90's--which i kinda liked

. i dunno, a lot of these monster movies nowadays just tend to be disappointing.

cloverfield is probably going to have a disappointing ending. wouldn't be surprising at all.
