Has anyone compiled a list of potential VC games that we are pretty sure will never see the light of day due to licensing issues?

I would like to know what NOT to expect.

I cant imagine things like early Genesis Technosoft greats will make it to the VC (Herzonq Zwei - DROOL) because that fukkin pahchino company bought the IP and then went bankrupt or some such....

We all know about things like RARE/Goldeneye..........but is there a web published or known list?

Some still may have a chance. The Ninja Turtles games are a good example. I pray that Capcom's Disney titles get released someday as well.

I have no idea why Nintendo didnt translate Mother 3 officially, its actually a crime agaisnt humanity

Such an amazing game, easily one of the greatest rpgs ever created, totally profound, bizarre, hilarious and heart wrenching all at the same time

Yes.

I would love to see Rescue Rangers, Ducktales, (Moon music OMG) Little Nemo, not disney but similar license issues.

Guardian Legend is IREM/Compile, and there are other IREM and Compile games on VC so I say yeah, it's definitely an eventual possibility. And as for S-E, there are several S-E games out in Japan - Hanjuku Hero and King's Knight... we of course have Actraiser. You'll see some S-E games on the VC but we probably won't get the mainline series until they're done whoring the hell out of them.

He doesn't own the ip rights, though I think SquareEnix has it locked down. Yuji Horii from DQ and Akira Toriyama of Dragonball fame also played a big role in that game as well.

Blue Dragon has two-thirds of the main supervisors from CT.

It's definitely more straight forward than that. With Goldeneye, you have at least three groups with legit claim to the game-- Nintendo, Rare, Activision.

Mistwalker has no legit claim to Chrono at all.

If Chrono is truly dead, then they'll release it sometime late in the VC cycle.

I will probably own a Wii at some point this generation (I like to pick up Nintendo consoles after 4 years, post-launch). I was really hoping they would be smarter with the Wii and teh VC. Instead of releasing Star Tropics, release Star Tropics 2. A game many people may have missed back in the day. In fact, release all those good games that came out from 1991 on. Many people had moved on to the 16 bit generation by then.

I may be completely off, but from what I understand, the code may belong to Nintendo, but they can't alter it for another game or anything like that. Other than that, yeah, I don't think Rare owns any part of that pie.

Yes, Nintendo owns the code. AFAIK, they only need Activion`s permission to publish the game.

It doesnt make sense from a gamer's perspective, becuase its an amazing experience that no-one should have to miss out on. Have you played Mother 3?

My Japanese is pretty ass, I knew enough to suss out the battle/ menu commands and get the gist of what was going on, I read through a translation guide after a play session to get the full story and dialogue, it sounds like a shit way to play but It really wasnt! The game was still fucking amazing, a testament to its quality

Little Nemo might not be impossible. The property is old enough that its public domain by now, the only problem I can foresee, is that I'm pretty sure the game was a movie tie-in.

I'm not sure on which side the rights lie, but its still more likely then any of Capcom's superlative Disney games to come out.

I dunno if that would make a difference. Sure it would please fans but would it have been worth the money to do?

How hard is it to market a sequel to 10 year old game on snes? Id say pretty hard. Wouldn't sell much imo. A compilation of all three makes more sense but is still pretty unlikely.

Plus they sold off their translated mother carts, which means they might have to redo the translation if such a thing were set into motion.
