PSP Custom Firmware v3.80 M33 is out.
« on: January 14, 2008, 02:28:48 PM »
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/custom-firmware-3-80-m33-has-been-released-85553.html

Quote
3.80 M33
--------

Requeriments:

- Installation requires a PSP with 3.52 M33-3 or higher. In the future installation using
panddra battery will be released.

Instructions

- Copy the UPDATE folder into /PSP/GAME/
- Get the 3.80 sony update from somewhere, and put it in same folder, with name "380.PBP".
- Run it, the update will be done by Sony updater. At the end when you are asked to reboot the
PSP pressing X or O, do it.

Changes:

- HEN core: user mode can load now signchecked files from flash.
- recovery: flash1 format will create flash1 directories after format.
This could fix some flash1 issues with the previous versions.
- Network update from dark-alex.org page. By default is enabled.
You can turn it off in recovery (when off, network update will download sony updates as usual).
- Nids resolver for various kernel libraries.

Comments:

In 3.80 sony has changed (again) kernel nids. The nids resolver will resolve a lot of nids from firmwares 1.50-3.60
(traditional nids) to the ones of 3.80 kernel.
In general, 3.71 nids will NOT be resolved to 3.80 ones. However, to compatibilize 3.80 M33 with prx's programmed for 3.71,
a few very 3.71 nids that were found in some 3.71 plugins will be resolved too.
More info about what is resolved in nidsresolver_status.txt.

Thanks to the combination of the nids resolver and the user libraries possibility in kernel mode added back in 3.71 M33-3,
some programs that stopped working in 3.30 M33 may work again now. One of them is PimpStreamer 0.90.

Finally, popsloader plugin from 3.71 will not work in 3.80 M33 due to its system dependancy. A new one will be rewritten for 3.80 M33.

Sooooo, I can use this on my Sony 3.71 FW?

And do I still have to have that battery to load it?

it's basically an easy and fast way to upgrade from say 3.80 to 3.80 revision 2/3 etc.

*Update* We hear from NorthenFusion in our forums that Dark AleX has given some clarifications on CFW 3.80 M33. As some have reported, they've already encountered some problems upon installing the latest custom firmware. Here's what DAX has to say:

- Installation requires a PSP with 3.52 M33-3 or higher.

Download 3.52M33 install, bump up to M33-4, then run 3.80 or 3.71 CFW installer, simple

or,

run pandora

I'll wait until there's a revision or two.  The last two releases, jumping on an update early meant you were basically beta testing it.

You have to change the Game ID to that of Syphon Filter 3's

start > run > cmd

popstation_md.exe "Chrono Cross" "Disc 1" "Disc 2" SCUS94640 SCUS94640 SCUS94640 9 9 "X:\ChronoCrossA.iso" "X:\ChronoCrossB.iso"

3.72: Use popsloader and 3.71-4 m33 to run 3.72 pops. Use GameID SCUS-94640 and it wont freeze on character status or the first boss Mama Komodo! This GameID also works great on 3.40 and 3.51, plus it has no slowdown like the other ID.

Or maybe it's a joined one.

anyway, i installed 3.80 M33 and i am pleased, here is why:

1- easy to update, all i had to do is copy 3.80 M33 UPDATE folder and copy Sony fw 3.80 inside the same said folder. (this is of course running from 3.52M33-3 or higher)

2- update is now the same as the official one, few clicks and legal crap and you are done.

3- network update is soooo goood, i just updated from 3.80 M33 to revision 2 (3.80-2 M33) with ease, very fast and efficient.

use this guide to go to 3.52 and after that grab revision 4: http://exophase.com/files/psp/M33-1234.zip (copy pasta link)

from there you can update to 3.80 with ease.

if anyone is interested in a screenshot plugin, here is a good one: http://www.qj.net/Screenshot-Plugin-3-71-2-in-game-bug-fix/pg/49/aid/109406

and here is how to install it (special thanks to SupahBlah from GAF):

Quote from: SupahBlah
Put "ScreenShot.prx" inside the folder "seplugins" (put this folder in psp root or main directory)

Create a txt file called "VSH" and one called "GAME" and put the line:

ms0:/seplugins/screenshot.prx

In both, then using the recovery console (holding R when booting the psp) click 'Plugins' and turn on both screenshots to enabled, then click exit and you'll boot to the psp main menu.

Then all you have to do is click Note (the musical note next to the select button) and a picture will be in your memory stick. (PICTURE\ScreenShot)

If ps1 games don't still work, try to mess with the recovery mode, like try to disable everything or something.

also, make sure your ps1 games are under folders.

like GAME/FF7/

and as far as i know, ps1 games have: eboot + a key file, so make sure both are under the same folder.

Also what's the best way to make images of PSX games?  I forgot!  :lol  I have Alcohol 120%.

what's the best genesis/megadrive emulator?

Picodrive.  It also supports Sega CD games.  Portable Snatcher! :hyper  It didn't play Popful Mail the last time I tried it though.

Yeah, it's been quite a while since I tried PSX games because I'd updated to some retardo firmware without POPS support. Tempest X3 now runs at 60fps :O Installed the original Dead or Alive, which trucks along at 60fps perfectly too. If you run it in "zoom" mode it seems to be proper 1:1 pixel mapping...I assume that's because it was a high-resolution game to begin with.

I also dorked around with Remote Play of PSX titles, it was shockingly playable. Tried popping a DiVX disc into the PS3 and playing those via remote play, which made the PS3 promptly crash. Nice job sony

1- rip ps1 game discs to isos with this: http://www.imgburn.com/
or you can download them if you so desire.

2- convert iso to eboot using this:

simple and straightforward, if you need a more advanced program (multi discs joiner...etc..) use this:
