is there a demo on xbl yet

I FUCKING HATE gamestop demos. They are distinguished mentally-challenged. They make no sense. Any game that does that should bomb.

No, but the devs implied there would be. It's a BestBuy thing btw.

Anywho, the N64 emu keeps having annoying errors, what's the best 64 emu? I was trying Project64.

You could try 1964, I've tried Project 64, but it crashes a lot for me. 1964 is by no means perfect, but it works fairly well for most games.

Yeah pop in t2. Way too "ambitious" a game by comparison. Incredibly long levels with tons of shit to "collect" (children lol) and a framerate that never gets above 15.

My mom was working with an exchange student while she was getting her graduate degree and he spoke really, really limited English. he was at our house for dinner and we were playing T2 and, in like the funniest accent ever, said, "This is complete shit."

I knew then that it was sooo bad.

I really think this can only be played with an N64 controller.

I really enjoyed Turok 2 (only one I've played). It also got great reviews back in the day:

I know, I spent a few hours last night reading them. I can't believe how far games have come...the framerates that N64 games used to run at would get a game absolutely slaughtered today. We're talking consistently worse than SOTC.

edit: Holy crap, the GA review is by drinky I think  :lol

edit: yep definitely is lololol

I just realized that if I switched the inputs in the settings of the emulator it'd be just like modern twinstick. I'm going to try that shit again with a 360 controller.

Why struggle with the emulators?  There are PC versions of Turok 1 and 2 available that I highly encourage trying.  They each feature upgraded visuals, perfect framerates, and an enhanced redbook audio soundtrack.  Both versions even run just fine in Vista with AA and AF cranked.  :P

Turok games don't just suck because they had shitty framerates.  The godawful fog were still in the PC versions, and so were the mediocre gameplay.

Eh?  The games looked great back in the day, but that wasn't the real appeal.  The gameplay was solid.  It was basically a precursor to Metroid Prime, only with a much great focus on shooting.  The original game has you exploring fairly large levels searching for "artifacts" while taking on loads of enemies.  Fortunately, the actual shooting felt really good and all of the weapons were a blast to use (the animation was incredible in its day and FPS games really couldn't match it in that regard for years to come).  The levels were shrouded in fog, true, but they still felt expansive and were fun to explore.  I don't know what it is, but the game was simply a lot of fun.

Now, Turok 2, that really did go a bit too far and wasn't anywhere near as fun.

Turok 2 had you looking for too much shit-- save 4 children, activate 3 beacons, kill three ghosts, close two portals, blah blah-- but it was still a technical marvel. 640x480 (at 10 fps lol), huge levels (too huge, no save points really), animation, bosses, VOICE ACTING....etc.

Trigger finger gettin' a bit itchy? Are you up at nights, dreaming of filling reptiles with high-velocity projectiles and sizzling forks of plasmic energy? Do you find yourself frequently pointing your index finger at the occasional horned toad, uttering little onamatopoeic sound bites like "zapow!" and "fwoosh-boom"?
