what's a good HD media center
« on: January 15, 2008, 03:47:30 PM »
My modded Xbox (the modded PSP of consoles) is getting a bit long in the tooth--it was great for shitty DiVX encodes in 2003, but it totally fails on 720p MP4s in 2008. I want to get a HOT and SEXY new media center that will handle 720p with aplomb and perhaps even 1080p once I upgrade my projector. Any suggestions?

I'm leaning towards a Mac Mini right now, but am curious if there's anything cheaper/better I should be considering. $599 to get in the door...oh, Apple, you loveable scamps.

I use the mini, but there are a lot of other options out there.  This is kind of the wrong place to ask the question though, you should probably hit up the AVS Forums.

i've been streaming hidef 720p over my 360 w/ the new patch.  works fucking ace man.  would rather do it thru the ps3 but it doesn't read xvid and divx over streaming. :(  you gotta actually hook up a USB drive for it to work or some shit.
