The old one was really bad, in retrospect. This is a great game. It's weird how the two most important characters (Delita and Ramza) rarely intersect after the first chapter, even though what they're doing inadvertently affects what happens to the other.
I don't think it's aged as well as I'd hoped it would (it gets really unbalanced at the end when you get the special story characters like T.G. Cid, and you never have to use the characters you've created) but I'd still love to get a legitimate sequel of this (i.e., not the kiddie-fied GBA and DS spinoffs).
The new translation makes it clear that Delita loved Ovelia, but wasn't above using her to satisfy his own ends. And Ovelia had gotten so used to being manipulated she couldn't stand the thought of being married to someone who used everyone around him like Delita did. I wish we got more insight into Delita and Ovelia other than the short cut scenes in the game. Their story was as interesting as Ramza's, IMO.
