I don't know about you guys but I'm beat after work and never can muster any motivation to play games. Kinda sucks since my backlog is growing and growing. Most of time gaming is on the weekend. Do any of you guys play games after work/school? I felt my college schedule was not optimal as well, but I never really slept at night during college.

I generally watch tv for 1-2 hours before I settle down to a game. Usually its WoW or something. I havent had the motivation to play much else aside from FF9 and Harvey Birdman.

I'm the same way... I'll play some pick-up-and-play games (XBLA, VC type stuff usually) but it's really rare for me to sit down to a long RPG after work... especially since it's a 10 hour workday for me. I save the RPG playing for Thurs nights and the weekends (luckily I have off Fridays too). Although I do play portables during my lunch break.

After work/gym I usually go home and cook for my wife and I, then play video games until bedtime or watch a DVD. Games or movies at the end of the day is what makes the day worth trudging through.

After I get home from work (around 6:00 most days) I am just too damned tired to get motivated to play. When I force myself to sit down and play I am glad...but getting the motivation to do so is hard.

sometimes! lately, with my daughter's, uh, encouragement, i've been trying to trudge through ff12, but the game is a hideous chore of an experience. how a game can have so many potentially great components yet coagulate into one giant scab of rpg yuck is utterly beyond me.

the number one design failure was the real-time party combat. the gambits were created as an to attempt to ameliorate the inherent wackiness of what amounts to ESCORTING AIs, but in the end, it killed any meaningful sense of final fantasy combat, with its emphasis on elemental matchups et al.

My wife has her evening MBA classes Mon/Tues/Weds evenings, so I try to get some game time in before I pick her up around 9pm.

Unfortunately, I typically fart around on the computer, watch TV and clean the house instead.

I can't speak for him, obviously, but I loved setting gambits. Programmers (well, some of us).

I play games after work if I'm completely hooked on something which doesn't happy very often (unless it's WoW). Most of the time I come home, watch whatever has come in from Netflix, fuck around until an hour before I go to bed, then feel disappointed with myself for not reading or working out.

I've been feeling the same

Its annoying that the off hand gambit system is the reasons why the dungeons feel overly long and uninspired. I'm quite a ways in and I don't think I can go any farther, its been a very long dugeon romp so far (with lots of annoying enemies casting annoying status effects

)

As far as playing games go, I try to play games when I'm off work but I usually don't feel motivated too. I've replaced my gaming vice with reading mainly

i like that there are 10% gradations in many of the gambit trigger thresholds. ooo, that HP <= 40% makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE over HP <= 50%!

Labyrinthine is the best word for it. I'm at some Lighthouse dungeon now (the start) and I just said NO! then saved and quit. I just want the game to cut to the chase, progress the story quicker and allow me to get the Ultimate Equipment

I generally find that I like to play games that you can play for a little while at a time and stop whenever,
like Halo 3 and UT3 multiplayer, Wii Fit (just started it up again), or Virtua Fighter 5. Sometimes I'll play stuff like Mass Effect, but usually I play longer, more involved games on days off if I have time. And then I'll also usually play a handheld game before I go to sleep. Phoenix Wright 3 is ever-so-close to completion now.

But there's plenty of days (or weeks) when I won't touch anything on weekdays. Just too pooped from work and I just sorta veg out watching TV shows, movies, or internets.
