loaded it as soon as it was released on steam, played it in one sitting until 5:30AM or so and Teknopathetic, Ferrio and I from GAF finished it at about the same time and then started mining the GCF for the ending song.

So did any of you get dizzy? I've always laughed at my friends and cousins who complain that FPS games make them dizzy. However, Portal made me feel strangely nauseated. I had to pause for 30 mins before beating the last couple of stages.

I can't criticize you when I do the same for movies,shows, etc w/wikipedia. Portal is pretty short though and the game is set up in such a way that you might beat the game differently from the youtube guy.

I don't see how you couldn't. The thing is barely 2 hours long....even shorter if you know what to do.

I heard that the achievements for Portal's advanced levels are really frustrating.

I think most gamers would take about 3-4 hours. In the beginning, you just need to figure out the solution but near the end, the game requires a lot more reflexive gaming skills.

It was way too short but then again gimmick was really wearing thin by the end too; i guess that's why the game was so short, the whole portal gimmick was limiting.

Maybe the game could had been a classic if they had better level/puzzle designers on hand. I miss the days of The Lost Vikings and stuff like that.

yeah, i'm about to finish ep1, and i'm not too impressed with it -- it just seems to reiterate the end of hl2. everybody seems to prefer ep2...i'm looking forward to that

It's really amazing how much better EP2 looks better than the original HL2. Sadly, even the superior console version seems to be a significant step down from the PC version. I only tried the XBL demo though. Perhaps the final version is a bit more refined.

Episode Two looks a crapload better than Half-Life 2 Remixed and Half-Life 2: Episode One. Plus, Episode Two is one of the best single-player FPS experiences of 2007. Episode One is probably the worst Valve-made installment in the Half-Life franchise thus far.

I played EP2 and I don't think it looks any different than the other games on OB. The difference is probably more noticable on a PC

Beat it, though was slightly LTTP with it (got it for Christmas and beat it over the course of the following week)... I thought it was excellent, as a fan of puzzle games, but I could totally see where Shuri was coming from with his criticisms... by the end of the game, quite a few of the solutions seemed to repeat (how many times can I fall into a hole and use momentum to launch me?).

My favorite puzzle:

At the end of stage 18 I think it was, where you needed to keep on using upward momentum to bounce between three progressively higher platforms

I want to. I played it once, got to Level 9 or so and wanted to 'savor the experience.'

First part of the Orange Box I played. Started it up planning to just goof around for a few minutes before jumping into Episode Two, and instead ended up playing it full through.
