I haven´t seen Persepolis, but I want it to win because I liked the graphic novel.  It's not going to happen though.

The Academy should create a Hottest Screenwriter award to give to Diablo Cody.  :-*

Achievement in music written for motion pictures (Original song)
"Falling Slowly" from "Once" (Fox Searchlight) Music and Lyric by Glen Hansard and: Marketa Irglova
"Happy Working Song" from "Enchanted" (Walt Disney): Music by Alan Menken; Lyric by Stephen Schwartz
"Raise It Up" from "August Rush" (Warner Bros.): Nominees to be determined
"So Close" from "Enchanted" (Walt Disney): Music by Alan Menken; Lyric by Stephen Schwartz
"That's How You Know" from "Enchanted" (Walt Disney): Music by Alan Menken; Lyric by Stephen Schwartz

If there is any justice in this world, Falling Slowly will win.

Enchanted may be like Dreamgirls last year where it has like 9248929248924 songs nominated so the vote is split leaving the winner for whatever was left over. That credit song from Inconvenient Truth beat all the dreamgirls nominations cause of that.  :lol

I'm really hoping that the three Enchanted songs cancel each other out and let Glen and Marketa win an Oscar.

Little Miss Sunshine was pretty mediocre too.

Juno is leagues better than that though.

Juno is a pretty good film, I must say. There was some of the indie shoutout shit, but it was like one fucking scene. I think Ellen Page deserves to win, not only for this, but because of her kicking ass in Hard Candy

No Country for Old Men is going to get Best Picture though. And clean house in its categories. JAVIER FUCKING BARDEM MOTHER FUCKERS.

Transformers > being anally raped by three guys at the same time, and then taking all three cumshots simultaneously while sucking their shitty dicks.

That's about the only thing that Transformers is better than. That's how horrible that awful, awful piece of shit is.

Juno doesn't stand a chance.  Wasn't even better than The Darjeeling Limited.

Also, sad to see some superior flicks overlooked entirely.  Nothing for Control, Zodiac and I'm Not There. :(

Zodiac is great. Robert Downy Jr. should have at least been nominated for best supporting actor. Obviously he wouldn't win but jeez, that movie deserves some recognition

Zodiac was robbed.  Robbed I tells ya.
If it came out in the fall it'd get awards. People forget movies early in the year.

demi, you're trying to reason with a douche who keeps his Star Trek DVDs hidden under his bed so his friends won't make fun of him.
No it's not that I fear being made fun of it. It's that it totally goes against how I act in real life. What was it you called it? "wannabe hipster"?

Perhaps "shithead" is more appropriate.

Because I don't wear my geek interests on my sleeve and put little star wars toys on my desk to show I like star wars and so forth? Wonderful.

Uh, not collecting action figures and hiding shit that you DO own aren't really on the same level.

I have the ST DVDs and I'm not ashamed to show them. They are among many movies that I own, they are among my interests, why would I be ashamed of that.

Most of its American screenings happened in 2007 but it doesn't matter, It's still better then 2 of the 3 up there(then again depending on tastes its better then all of them).

If it was screened even once in New York or LA during 2006, it's sadly ineligible.

It was also a part of the 44th New York Film Festival, playing on October 7, 2006

Juno is just so fucking terrible, it pains me to see all those nominations.  Fortunately it doesn't stand a chance in any of the categories except maybe Best Screenplay (where I will pray that Michael Clayton beats it out).

Why did Hollywood pick this year to lavish praise on quirky shit for hipsters?  Why didn't they reward all the other previous films that Juno is painfully imitating?  Is it because Juno is a studio flick?

Nice to see Michael Clayton get so many nominations, though.  I really enjoyed that flick.  Clooney will fall to Daniel Day Lewis, but here's hoping Tilda Swanton gets a statue for her performance.

Matt Damon should have gotten a nomination for Bourne Ultimatum.  It's harder to portray an action movie hero than people think.  I mean, even Bruce Willis can't get many people cheering for him any more.

Supporting actress is probably the easiest award to predict this year by far. Amy Ryan has that locked up. Which I don't know why, she wasn't the best part of GBG but that award is hers without question.

While I love the Bourne films I didn't see anything that made me think Damon=oscar nom. He does his job in the films, and does it well. But it's not like he's asked to do much in terms of emotional range or subtlety. He's just there to kick ass.
