what I assumed was that brazil would go and show a clear moral message. Instead, even after extensively showing the backstory of the main character, the movie just shows that a totalitarian society just dehumanizes the human inside of you. I figured it got hyped a lot only because of how detailed the setting of the world was.
that faq was helpful in that it taught me that it was the acid lady's funeral at the end of the movie. the second half was so confusing that I had no idea what was going on. That's one of my major issues with this, why show 50% of the movie as a hallucination/dream? we get that a world like that would be fucked up, so try to develop the character trying to "better" himself. at least that's what I'd like.
PD, I am criticizing the story decisions in those movies. I'm not making comparisons to the cinematography they use because I really couldn't care about that.
