The movie is still excellent but it veers off in a very mechanical presentation at times and leaves the whole presentation feeling sterile (much like Fargo).  Like good British detective fiction it is tense and supremely competent but also too well put together and fails where genre fiction always fails.

Well, duh.

SHUT YOUR FILTHY FUCKING YAPPER, BUD!  I'LL KNIFE YOU IN YOUR SPLEEN!

I'd say that NCFOM is first tier Coen Bros, but at the lower end of that tier.  It's still better than Fargo and most/all of their recent shit.

I lived in North Dakota, and a result, I cannot watch Fargo. Its way too familiar and depressing.

Three months later, the fallout will cease and everyone will love No Country for Old Men

Fuck, this even happened with Pan's Labyrinth. No, really.

Happens with every movie. Everyone wants to be a critic and feel educated in the ways of the craft so they go blah blah blah blah
