"President George W Bush has urged Americans to have confidence in their economy in the long-term, as he gives his final State of the Union address. "

Seriously, now he's just taking the piss openly !

I hear my roommate through the wall telling his roommate that it was one of the best speeches he's ever heard, and that Bush is spot-on in blaming Congress for everything.

I didn't even bother watching this year.

Apparently Bush might still give another SOTU speech, as a lame duck president after the election.  I could see him exercising that option, since he's apparently concerned about his legacy in Iraq.

come on Phil! how can you be so cynical?
Just because a load of market experts and economists are worried , listen to your President!

He may as well have got up on stage and sang "Don't Worry.... BE HAPPY!"

History will not be kind to this man.

I wouldn't be so sure. Reagan's remembered fondly.

That's more due to conservatives needing a modern icon, which he has become.  Wall Street and corporate types loved him, too.  Since the mass-media is owned by corporations, its not hard too see why.
