Does Lost Odyssey have any shadows at ALL? I'm watching all of these scenes and I've not once seen an object have a shadow. Like the carriages at the beginning of the intro? No shadows! Jansen, Seth, and Kaim in any scene I see? No shadows!

It almost looks psx-esque at times. Seriously.

Such a step back, graphics wise, from Blue Dragon.

i do think that lost odyssey IS like a ps1 game with a ps2/360 level story. i mean shit, there are no armor to buy nor very many things to customize besides abilities.

No armor is good. I hate micromanaging armor.

Blue Dragon was a dream come true. The engine was mostly built by the Age of Empires team for Artoon.

I hope it is used in future games...

And say what you want about Toriyama(the guy stards hated the moment mistwalker went to the 360) but the game's art is fucking gorgeous.

How can a story or customization system be PS1 level or PS2 level? Those depend on developers, not hardware.

armor's not bad but I prefer a smooth experience of just awesome tough battles instead of changing my stats constantly.

I like how FFX handled equipment. Customizable, no one weapon or armor truly better than the other, all with a purpose somewhere in teh game.

I think the project that turned into FF12 had turned into an offline game before it turned into FF12, so technically "FF12 was originally online" isn't quite right. At any rate, the project went through a lot of changes. Characters were originally super-deformed, they tried like four completely different versions of the character growth/job/license board system, etc. I don't think Matsuno or anyone else was ever totally clear on what exactly they were trying to make.

I didn't really train enough to let my guys stay zombified to the point where it doesn't hurt my party. The Regen shit she does is easy to avoid, but she Curaga's my ass a lot.

And then, you know, Mega Death. I need to train in Zanarkand Ruins a bit so I can get some Deathproof stuff.

that reminds me.... the soundtrack is obviously from nobuo uematsu because it is beautiful. that guy is to video games what danny elfman is to movies.

about what i said about the game having a ps2/360 level storyline was pretty unclear. i meant the presentation of the story and the way that it unfolds, relying on cinematics, better quality music, and voice acting was like the newer generation of rpgs. ff7/8/9 were all text based. however while the combat may "feel" like ff10, it plays a lot like ff8 or 9 and learning skills from other mortal players or from accessories is very much like ff8.

is that clearer?
