God, XII had so much potential. I tried popping it in again and AGAIN I get sick of the game at Bhujerba–which isn't far along in the game at all. The game like EXPECTS you to be a genius at the gambit shit and EXPECTS that you've grinded the fuck out of your characters.
Gay gay gay
I didn't grind and got along fine, and gambits are easy peasy.
Still scrapped it at 25 hours or so.
You need to do a LOT of grinding during the second half of the game. It's ridiculous. The gambits were fun to play around with at first, but micromanaging them between six characters became a pain in the ass later in the game. You can get away with only leveling three characters, though. I have no idea why I used all six (got most of them to ~50), huge waste of time.
I curious to try XII with the Zodiac job system. It would fix some of the problems I found with the License Boards (mainly them being almost the same among all characters).
FFXII is such a "bittersweet" game, for lack of a better term. It had so much potential. The soundtrack and art direction is incredible. Ivalice was such a beautiful world, and the game had a great and interesting cast of characters (e.g. Balthier, Fran, and Larsa) minus a couple I didn't care for. It was basically hurt by its mediocre-at-best story and poor plot.
FFI-III suck. FFIV-X are omg. FFXI is lol. FFXII is meh.
From what I've played, I kind of agree. I think FFXII is more good than "meh" for me, though. Think 8.0 - 1UP style.
