I used to make fun of soccer back when I played on a basketball team. A couple guys from the soccer team challenged me to join the team, and I did. To this day it's the most physically demanding thing I've ever done. Soccer is HARD. In two seasons my stats: 2 goals, 2 assists  :lol

Also our coach made us do fucking suicides on the field during practice omg  :lol

You know what else is physically demanding? Cycling. Doesn't make it exciting.

Soccer is more exciting than football or baseball.  I never watch any sports games so I wouldn't get the wankery that people do over smacking a ball with a wooden bat but soccer is pretty damn physical and requires actually being athletically fit.  I mean, I like playing football but you can't call 350 pound linemen that waddle out onto the fields athletes.  When you have Italians with thighs as big as a horse's, you'd shit yourself playing against them.

Don't deny it, you'd COMPLETELY and TOTALLY shit yourself.

Back on topic, you ever play against mehicans warcock?  they got skillz.

I understand it but in the last 30 years, the average weight of NFL linemen went up 100 pounds to an average of 350 pounds.  They ain't sumos, they just use their physical mass to stay in place.

oh yes - have been since i was a kid, although as a brit that shouldn't be a surprise.

follow two teams - my local team (Carlisle United) and a team i just liked since i was 7 years old (Ipswich Town)
neither are top division sides, so i'm not exactly glory hunting!

I moved to Chelmsford in Essex for a year or two, specifically because it made going to the games at Ipswich a damn sight easier than travelling from south London.

And i have to say, going to the match and the atmosphere of being at -your- teams games is one of the biggest things i miss about the UK.

Played a bit of 11-a-side when i was younger, and played a fair bit here for the company team for a couple of seasons. But my real ability lies in Futsal , which i've played since i was very young to a decent level : totally different game really, and tactically i struggle with 11-a-side vs. the 5-a-side nature of futsal.

We won some silverware last year, first time as a captain in a long while that i got to lift a trophey.

there is always that club vs country debate, but for me i find international soccer to be insanely dull. I'm way more into club football than internationals.

additional : i love pretty much all sports. I love rugby, US football, baseball, basketball, cricket (1 day/ 20Twenty > full internationals but still...) ... there isn't much i don't enjoy watching (at least) .
Have you ever played in one of those "company team vs world class club/national team" things?

The greatest soccer players I've ever seen in person was the UK (University of Kentucky lol. He is an Englishman though.) coaches friends from overseas. None of which ever played the game professionally or anything.

The messicanz are crazy, the mexican national team is heads above ours despite our 9-1 lead over them currently. I am trying to train with them. Im only 1/4 sicilian, the rest of me is lebanese. So i am essentially genetically gimped for football. That said sand distinguished black fellows/egypt won the african cup today, owning even cameroon the indompitable lions so there may be hope for us am nintenho. MERCI.

Dcharlie: awesome to see someone as passionate about football as i am on here granted i am not a HUGEE fan of the FA EPL. Totally respect the quality of english football, its intensity and physical accent. I prefer liga primera and serie A(in non catenaccion matches) though. Hey ARSEnal vs AC milan CL should be match of the year , 10 days :( Milan is going to get raped :(

Club football is played usually on a whole other level then internationals. But the partisanship and excitement behind ints is fucking insanely awesome.

Australian football is a lot more exciting than soccer, and is high scoring so you don't waste your time watching a game that then ends 0-0.
