The 7th generation Nissan Maxima expose' thread
« on: February 10, 2008, 09:04:08 PM »
Because the mid March 7th generation Nissan Maxima (2009) is so so close yet so painfully far away I must exert my energy into making this thread.

I will likely 98% pre-order the car's special launch edition the day it is shown.

Right now some current concepts of what it may look like are;

I know I want white with white leather interior like the 2nd maxima I owned. Right now im riding in a silver 5th gen SE with black leather interior in the city and a Infiniti G35 with similar scheme for the open road or late night fun. I miss the smoothness of white on white maxima ;)

Lets look at the history of the best bloody 4DSC in the known universe.....

Generation 1 - 1984 Nissan Maxima

I never owned one of these lovelies but I do intend to collect one some day if I ever have proper garage space for a classic Maxima/3XX sports collection.

Generation 2 - 1988 Nissan Maxima

Never had one of these either.......same motive as above!

Generation 3 - 1994 Nissan Maxima

This was the first Maxima I ever owned.

Generation 4 - 1999 Nissan Maxima

This is the lovely I had with the white leather and frost white OEM paint - my most fav maxima ever!

I also had this ride at the same time ;)

99 maxima and 92 300ZX was the fucking best transport combo I ever owned.

Generation 5 - 2003 Nissan Maxima

This is the Maxima I currently own. I love the back... I wish I would have gone white on this model...I wont make the same mistake next-time.

Generation 6 - 2008 Nissan Maxima

If the 2009 7th Generation Maxima redesign blo's Im going to buy one of these ASAP...(frost white body and the leather interior color pictured below) fully loaded navi and all...

Any Maxima fans have any good concept or spy photo's of the 2009 Nissan Maxima?

I will be up front here and stake that I am a huge Maxima fanboy. I have owned a few and out of everything I have driven I like them best.

There might be some shitty Scions and stuff that look similar to the 6th gen - but they dont drive like it, accel like it nor have the tech on board.

I cant tell shyt about those 7th gen spy shots with the black lines/tape all over the car.

So what cars have better ammenties? Infiniti? No just AWD there.

Any GM cars? buwhahahahah NO. Caddy still has a fucking analog clock in it.

Any other Evilboreons going to the MArch NY Autoshow?

I am going just for the 09 Maxima unveiling.

The current gen one is ugly as fuck, the older ones are cool though. Nissan design has sucked balls lately, so I have low hopes for the new one.

There are plenty of cars with higher tech, amenities, and better driving and performance than the Maxima.

Lots of luxury cars include analog clocks. There's a digital one in the CTS too, the analog one is a cosmetic touch. The Infiniti M has one too, distinguished mentally-challenged fellow :lol. And the G, and the EX... every Infiniti?

Pontiac G8 makes this redundant

Except its Pontiac - they never did make excitement :(

Actually, it's a Holden. It's matched the 5 series in comparos over there at lower cost, and all impressions by US magazines have been outstanding. As it should be, since it's the same vehicle as the one sold in Australia.

RWD ~260hp V6 for 27,500.
RWD ~360hp V8 for $29,900.

Current Maxima is $28,000 base, even if the new one is the same price it's a ripoff. FWD is pathetic at that price point and with horsepower approaching 300.

Yeah and Pontiac is a non-reliable shyt brand IMO.

The 08 MAxima I may buy totals out at 37K MSRP fully loaded.

My G DOES NOT have an analog clock.

Infiniti is in exactly the same place Cadillac is: they were building crappy cars up until 2002 when they both unleashed a hot model and proved themselves. Calling the new CTS a failure is fucking ignorant.

BTW, try doing a google search before you mouth off. Here's the G35 interior:

And the CTS, with its leather stitched dash and pop up navi:

Yeah and Pontiac is a non-reliable shyt brand IMO.

"Brands" don't have quality, vehicles do.

$37k for a Maxima is a joke, get a CTS/TL/G8/G35 for your dollar.

We're talking about models on the market today, not on used car lots. Every Infiniti built now has an analog clock, your attempt to paint it as some kind of low-end feature blew up in your face.

I rented a Caddy CTS last year - it reminded me of the build quality of a Daewoo.

Yet it's one of the highest quality vehicles sold in the US.

And it's been redesigned since then, the 2008 CTS is a quantum leap over the old one, especially in the interior department.

Maybe if you'd actually test driven a car or read a magazine in the last 2 years I wouldn't need to tell you these things.

The CTS is number one in entry luxury in Consumer Reports and the Motor Trend Car of the Year.

BTW Saturn has had their entire lineup revamped with products built by and inspired by Opels in the last year, so yea pushing a Saturn isn't such a bad idea anymore.

They've had some production faults but generally Holden Commodors are reliable. After all they have to cope with harsher conditions (roads mainly) than in the US. I dislike them because here they are everywhere and hence plebian though in the US they might seem slightly exotic.

On the other hand Maxima screams bland middle manager with no will to live in anybody's language.

The Caddy you drove hasn't been in production for like 8 months now.

The Maxima is the peak of boring in the high $30k class.

Again: TL, CTS, G35, G8 are more bang for your buck.

And go read some magazines and take some test drives, your talking points are years out of date. Kind of like fullsize FWD cars.

Do you get TCO and depreciation.

Maxima has a good balance for its price....My Infiniti G35 has depreciated and lost value an an alarming rate.

I pay cash for my cars and I only like to ride for 5 years or 100,000 miles max....40K with taxes just makes more sense for a nice ride with a decent level of tech. Ill never invest in another Infinity...the maintinance and little fcuking annoying things here and there have cost far much more than it has been worth.

Yeah I hate that shyt....

I had a 1 yr old audi i bought off of my cousin a year and 1/2 ago and then sold. I also previously had a BMW X3 which was my only SUV'ish ever.

Back in 2001 I had a Z3 but sold it when i moved from cali.

Maxima is perfect for me anyway - good price, glovelike feel and good tech as god any ANY other luxury sedan if not better (no navi fees, onstar harassments, etc..)

Plus its so cheap I can rokk a little fun sports car to go with it and not break 100K between the both of them.

Nissan design has sucked balls lately

I do 100% agree with this.... The Altima is like a Jetsons dildo and the 6th gen maxima IS NOT better than the 5th gen from a body lines standpoint.

The morono is a bleding eyesore....

The quest looks like a pregnant altima

The titan gets 3 MPG

heh

The concept pictured in this topic looks good at least.

To answer your other question: price cut to be in line with the Taurus, or RWD with the high-po 3.5 or even 3.7 in it. Which is... the G8. The Maxima isn't the fastest, doesn't have the best handling, doesn't have the most room, and it's expensive. It's the opposite of older Maximas. It was decent when it was released but it's a joke now, and I don't think they're changing enough in '09 to make it worthwhile.

And I don't know what you think "tech" is, but the Maxima really isn't outclassing any recent luxury intros. It was pretty feature packed back in 2004 or whatever when it was released, but it's pretty standard fare these days.

A lot of cars have that these days, I think they just put a special coating on the upper part. There's an Opel/Saturn Astra with it, the tC, Mustang has it optionally for 08, I know I've seen it in others.

We'll see if the actual Maxima has it.

Astra interior:

Quote
Most folks inside Nissan won't hesitate to admit that the Maxima has lost its way a bit. It's a car that once sat proud as a sporty alternative to the Camry or Accord, and for a while, Nissan even called it the Four-Door Sports Car (a "4DSC" sticker adorned one corner of the rear window on models in the early nineties.) Now, the car sits awkwardly on top of the Altima that, in some ways, is actually a better car.

That will all change in 2009 when Nissan will dig into its past and make the Maxima a four-door sports car once again. We haven't seen the future Maxima, but has been described to us as "unlike anything we've ever done" by more than one Nissan insider. Expect a concept version of the car to debut next winter at a major auto show as part of Nissan's fiftieth anniversary celebration (which will also include the production GT-R and a new Z-car.) It should be an aggressive, Mercedes-Benz CLS-style car sharing some cues with Nissan's other halo vehicles. The new Maxima will use the same VQ engine family found throughout the Nissan/Infiniti range, but to prevent the car from cannibalizing G35 sales, it will most likely remain front-wheel drive. A diesel model is also planned, and it could end up being the high-performance range-topper. We're excited.

My hype for this tops anything else.

I like the GT-R - but if im spending that much - its going to be on a luxury sedan IMO.

Anyway the Nissan guy just emailed me this AM to tell me he will have the 2009 MAxima on sale 1-2 months after the showing in NY.
