What the fuck. SUBLIME?!? REALLY?!?! I liked a lot of shitty bands throughout the 90s due to it coinciding with my early adolescent years, and I didn't even listen to them back then.

Yeah they were a huge stoner band and that's where a lot of their initial fans came from. They managed to clean up their sound (not lyrically, just in terms of production) and got a major label album after 40oz to Freedom. Then the dude OD'd and they became legendary.

The band reformed with a new singer and called themselves the Long Beach Dub All Stars. I saw them play on campus back when I was a freshman. They sounded a lot like Sublime and even played a few of their old songs. All the new stuff was pretty mediocre and again largely about getting high.

I really hated having to explain to people back in the day how Sublime wasn't a ska band.

Sublime is the Family Guy of music.

I went to Shippensburg University, which, if you don't already know and I really don't know why you would, is sitting out in some anonymous corn field right between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. For a bearing on just how fantastic of a school it is, motherfuckin' Dean Koontz is probably our only notable alumni.
