Even in general, not even relating to relationship stuff, this day ends up being truly shitty for me. Fuck, last year I was 100% sober all day and it was 2 degrees outside. In other words, that's shitty enough by itself.

A girl I knew from high school (I had a huge ass crush on her too) got out of a bad relationship with a friend of mine. She's graduating this year and she wants to casual date and wants me to go to prom with her.

She's brunette with black squared glasses, lmfao. The atheist part is inaccurate though I think she's getting there still.

So, while Valentine's Day WILL suck, all hope is not lost. Well, at least with Airport Girl. I'm pretty sure she's just fucking with me right now. I've told Airport Girl some stuff about this girl because we've been really good friends for awhile. She acted really jealous when I told her that we hung out the other night, saying that she wanted to meet her to set the record straight (for a while I wasn't sure if I was going to date her or not due to us being good friends and the past crush). The remainder of that evening involved me telling Airport Girl I can make my own decisions and then (later on) going off into a corner with brandonh83, drunk as hell, and basically yelling to him that if girls like me they should get off of their asses and do something about it.

Oh well.

Last time I checked, Valentine's was always a non-holiday created to give people that extra opportunity to spend money. The making out in public and making single people feel like shit is an unfortunate side effect.

My wife will probably come home with some chocolates that my fat ass doesn't need, and then next month on white day I'll return the favor.  Whatever, really.  I don't need a "holiday" to let my wife know how I feel about her.  I tell her every day. 

Today in one of my classes the teacher decided that I should teach the kids about the "real" Valentine's day.  I printed some shit off Wikipedia, plus some various valentine's day cards I found.  Then I found a nice lesson on making cards with poems.  Seemed easy.

So I go to the class and start explaining the history of Valentine's day.  Except that Wikipedia is all over the place with this and it's really, really difficult to explain the history and about martyrdom to a bunch of 14 year old Japanese kids in easy English.  So fuck it.  I tell the kids to forget it and explain about the differences between American and Japanese Valentine's Day.  The girls (there's only five boys in this class and they could give a fuck about anything) were really interested and surprised to hear that there's no obligatory "giri choco" or any of that other bullshit, plus that guys usually give gifts too, and not just chocolates, but cards, jewelry, lingerie (this got a laugh), etc.

Then it became obvious that trying to get these kids to write love poems just wasn't going to work.  So I said "fuck this shit, imma do it my way" and we had them write cards to their teachers thanking them for their hard work (these kids are graduating soon). 

Should have stuck with my original plan and showed them a movie.

Giving chocolates is forbidden at my schools.  A couple of years ago some girls were caught with some and punished for it.  I couldn't fucking believe the shit they were getting for having some candy in their bags.  OH HEAVENS NO!

One girl made a valentine to another boy.     Sherefused to show it to me and didn't turn it in at the end of the class.  The only way I can ever get her to do anything is to mention the group "Kanjani 8" and she gets all attentive.  So I wonder if the boy in the card was actually a member of that group.
