You don't have to.  I was merely remarking that when it comes in conversations about the playstation it always seems people completely discount it.

Oh no, I don't underestimate it's popularity. A lot of my friends who own PS2s love that series, but I just can't figure it out personally. Socom games sold like gangbusters on the PS2, it will be interesting to see how the PS3 iterations do.

SOCOM is good if you've never played Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six.

Had no idea that SOCOM was that popular, but they seem to churn out sequels like cheap factory-made toys, so that would make sense. Still, with MGS4 all but confirmed for 360, the FFXIII games, Wipeout HD and maybe White Knight are the only interesting things on the Sony horizon.

With regards to Socom, I enjoyed Socom on the PS2 for about 3 hours.  Then I stopped playing it.

The brand recognition of Sony will be enough to topple the 360 momentum. Will it happen this year?  Most likely not, Sony needs some exclusive titles to be released for it in order for that to happen - titles that will not go to the 360 after x amount of time *cough* MGS3 *cough*

Like it or not, the PS3 is actually accelerating. Which, to be honest, it should considering its dismal first year. But it is actually picking up pretty respectably. It's only a matter of time as to when it crosses the 360, IMO-- I predict sometime in the middle of next year based on the PS3 sales in the UK we just saw.

Whether or not you want to believe this is "significant" or not is a whole different argument....but I was not aware the 360 was flopping around that weirdly in Europe.

Granted I don't care. I'm going to continue to do most of my gaming on the 360, which has better versions of multiplat games. And that's the case for the forseeable future, so dont care much lulz

Does it really matter for us gamers in NA even if the PS3 passes the 360 worldwide?  The best scenario for the PS3 is that it becomes a distant 2nd in Europe/Japan and a distant 3rd in the US,which means that it becomes this gen's Gamecube.  In NA, the Xbox owned the GC in terms of software support, despite trailing the GC worldwide.  I think a similar situation will occur if the PS3 does pass the 360 worldwide.  Games like GTA4, COD4, and maybe even DMC4 and RE5 will continue to sell significantly more on the 360, due to the 360's big lead here.  That means that outside of quirky Japanese games, there won't be many 3rd party games going PS3 exclusive.
