THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU/ME/NOOBS!So I ditched my second Warlock on the new server I started WoW-ing on. I mean my Warlock still exists, and I was having a fine time with him, but after receiving my voidwalker I thought ahead to the challenges that still faced me and I realized that I didnt feel like doing the robe, succubus, felhunter, infernal, or doomguard quests.
I mean people go on and on about how Warlocks get free mounts big deal whoop. I dont think that most people understand how much of a BITCH our class specific quests are. Gathering the stuff for the FelHunter alone is just ARGH. I mean for a guild its probably easy, but I solo, and getting all the shit together for the summons after the voidwalker, the robes, that orb thingy, wtf NO! NOT AGAIN!
I have level 60 Warlock and ill move him when I have 25 bucks to blow, but I decided I just dont wanna do it again. Id rather find a way to make 40 gold for a mount with my new character.
Not to mention the server I am on CRAWLS with Warlocks, ive never seen so many in Westfall in all of my WoWing life. Whats funny is most of them will fizzle out by level 30. Warlocks are not for everyone. I have noticed in my time that Alliance has more high level Warlocks, and I think its due to Alliance just having a better guild/raid structure. Lots of support going on. My time as Horde most of the Warlocks I met were Solo types, having earned their stripes the hard way but being better players because of it. I mean we wiped the goddamned floor with Alliance locks of any build.
ANYWAY, Priest now. I am enjoying it a lot, and after 18 levels ive decided I am going to stay the course and play the priest my own sorta way. Guildless and walking the lands alone as I get myself into trouble.
Speaking of trouble, Alliance players are so UGH worthy. I did meet one capable mage yesterday and they are now on my friends list, but this came at the price of meeting two BAD players who got themselves killed and almost got ME killed repeatedly. Suffering Alliance is sadly the price I must pay to meet the Belfs in battle and teach them that fancy hair and parlor tricks wont stop a better player from murdering their faces in battlegrounds.
Lions, Tigers, and PKers! Oh My!I am convinced that aside from myself and a handful of others, .hack//gu sold like 0 copies. This doesnt bode well for the follow-ups I know are in the works, but I hope Namco/Bandai do the fans of the series some justice and at least finish what they've started. As I said in earlier posts the game looks better, has a better story, better VA, better battle-system -- its just better.
However it is STILL .hack and in that sense will probably never feel like either a MMORPG or RPG...it sorta gives that same feeling of Guild Wars. The level of immersion is definately there. The main characters desktop is full of neat options and it is all integrated into the story. I am not terribly far in the game and the fights have been pretty easy so far, but I am afraid its as deceptive as the first series in that the fights up to the boss are easy, but the boss is a bitch.
The end result is grinding a crapload of easy fights. The story also moves pretty fast and so far I feel like I am being pushed along at a steady rate so at least a sense of progress is there.
TALES OF THE MEAN JERKSEveryone in Tales of the Abyss is mean to each other or completely obnoxious and its for these reasons I like this game a lot. The battle system feels sloppy to me compared to say Valkyrie Profile 2, and I know ill have to grind with it when opportunities present themselves, but the charactarization in this game is so hilarious its hard to groan at the idea of plunking a few more hours into the game. An example of jerks:
Character 1: "Dont you know its rude to ask for a favor without bowing your head in respect?"
Character 2: *sigh* --bows head-- "Will you please help us"
Character 1: "Lol look at you! Dont you have any pride?"
The first five hours are full of this stuff and after the serious plot of VP2 i've found TotA story extremely entertaining. its a shame wacky jappy everyone has to be friends RPG fans wont like this game, but I like my RPGs full of MEAN FUCKING BASTARDS!
