Oh my god it's a Euro comic EXPLOSION!!

I bought L'Incal 1-6. These are available in two new softcover trades (which is really uncommon for French comics), so they only set me back 9.90E each. Jodorowsky x Moebius = LES BONEURS TOTALES

I bought Enki Bilal's Nikopol trilogy: La Foire aux Immortels, La Femme Piège, Froid-Équateur. I have no idea how I never heard of this guy before, as his work is CRAZY awesome. Fantasic art and weirdly spiritual narratives about immortals and men and crazy, crazy futures. The Integrale edition of Monstre (his most recent work, 10 years in the making) is out, but I decided to stick to his best-known "classic." 40E for the lot. It turns out there was a short-lived English version published in 2001 that I may try to track down.

I got Xoco 1--the first part of a two-part story, so sadly incomplete, but it's out-of-print now and that was all I could find. The lurking horror set in America, with really weirdly realistic art. 12E.

Code McCallum, because it has awesome art and who doesn't want to read a self-contained near-future female spy story? Only gaybos, that's who. 12E.

Speaking of, it bears noting that the French women of bandes dessinées are way hotter than either manga moe crybabies or comic pornstar superheroes. Exhibit A is Tinkerbell (Clochette) from Loisel's Peter Pan:

Also, Blacksad is SUPER FURRY PORN and I'm sorry I ever touched it in the store. :'(

Also also, it was superdepressing to see the English section of the comic shop and up front was...

America. :gloomy

The publisher Humanoid looks to have made a 2-month attempt at entering the US market in 2002, when they published an English version of the Nikopol trilogy and then promptly went bankrupt.

The rest are French-only, sadly.

I can mostly read French, happily!

American comics. :gloomy

I already own most of Tintin, and it's readily available in English editions.

I never really "got" Asterix. I guess you need to be French. I've tried a few times and I always end up going "this is retardix."

I hope that Sho Nuff shows up and rapidshare's the awesome bootleg Tintin unlicensed sequel comic. It's like a hard-R for content while being TOTALLY faithful to the original, it's hilarious.

I love Asterix and I'm not French. :P

Also, no Spirou in this thread means it is made of LOSE and FAIL.

There.  I just saved your thread.

I want some French hentai.

Heavy Metal publishes that kind of stuff sometimes. I always flip through the new issues at the newsstand and will occasionally buy a copy based on how much of it is Eurotrashy Sci-Fi hentai.

there's no English L'Incal, as far as I know.

also, Spirou is cute, but there's like more than 50 books and I was looking for self-contained SF-style story arcs, not ongoing heartwarming children's stuff. sorry. wait, I'm not sorry.

Asterix was good cheese. Charming characters, bashing guidos, racial stereotypes and nods to pop culture and present day (then) events.

Each Spirou album is a self-contained story.  And I'd hardly call something like Spirou "heartwarming"  It's an action-adventure series.

Also, you suck.

Yes, yes, I get it.  You have no taste and no appreciation for the finer points of the form.  Pish-posh.
