i agree with this statement

what i love is the political reaction to the film around the time of its release.

Bamboozled is amazing, but not quite as amazing as this:

Before Bamboozled was even a twinkle in Spike Lee's eyes, Toriyama was already tackling race issues head-on in his successful martial arts manga, Dragon Ball.

Akira Toriyama inspired Spike Lee, who woulda thought? :bow :bow :bow

I'm guessing that's a typo of lmao because Mister Popo is certainly not a "lamo."  He's for the children.

yeah, it's a flawed movie from a narrative perspective, but damn is it funny and cuts right to the bone of how the american media industry collectively perceives black folks even today -- as entertainers exclusively, and not necessarily in an inspirational way.

The narrative was very outrageous but then look at the title.  It's amazing that he was able to make a rational storyline and fit all those racist characters.  Of course, that was because he based it on real people's every day racism.

Holy shit, I want to post this on GAF so bad.

"Bamboozled was ok, but why do American directors constantly steal ideas from Japanese visionaries?"
