where do you and lyte work muckson
We "work" for the internet.

We're just fans who write up stuff on occasion as a labor of love. I tend to focus on more obscure 2D fighters or titles that might not get that much attention as bigger, more popular titles to try and make people aware of these games and if they're worth checking out or not.
At one point I did some reviews for a small site that focused on import gaming. The guy running it contacted me from the stuff I used to post on GAF...a few other people from GAF wrote for him too, and one of them told me the guy was kind of shady, but I figured what the hell, and did it anyway. He paid me for each review with no incident for several months, then one day didn't pay me for two reviews and didn't respond to my e-mails for a week or so. This is not a long time, but when he would send multiple e-mails to you daily wanting reviews and then just stop when it was time for the cash, something was up. It turns out the site wasn't doing too well financially and instead of just saying that beforehand, he just took my reviews and posted them. He did end up paying me later (not as much, as I recall, but it's hard to remember off-hand) and then I told him I'd write for free after that, but just lost interest in the site due to the shit that had happened. I wrote one more review for him (for free) and then just stopped. I didn't like being constantly asked or outright nagged to submit reviews; this guy just wanted to have the first reviews on the internet, I think, and so you didn't even have to play that much of a game as long as you could write something about it and get it posted as soon as possible.
I find I'm happier just writing and posting stuff on boards. I can post what I want, take my time writing, and all the material (screenshots and such) I post is mine. Maybe we could all make a fan site that makes no-nonsense reviews and calls out other reviews on bullshit. That would be fun and hilarious if it got big. Muckson's buddy has a message board called "Crankyass Gamer." I think turning that place into this kind of site would be a fun project.
