Now the HD movie war is over, i'm just wondering - now that BR is the defacto standard for HD movies, surely now we will see a rush of players coming out?
I'm just wondering how long the PS3 will retain it's bonus of being the lowest cost BR player on the market?
Obviously, sony can continue to prop up the PS3 by taking further losses, but surely other companies (those in the BR group and those outside it (Toshiba for instances)) will be looking at releasing players, recorders, etc ?
Would the appearance of , say, a $199 cheap player stocked in Wallmart possibly be a potential fly in Sony's PS3 ointment? I appreciate for gamers who also want HD movies that are interested in one machine , then the PS3 still reamins -the- choice for them, but i just wonder how much a factor the BR playback is in isolation.
Obviously the fact that the PS3 plays back BR will always be an advantage over the X360. Poorly worded title ftl.
