Evilbore! What say you to the Legend of Heroes series? Yea or nay?

I want to know whether they're worth getting or not...there are three games, right?  Are they any good?  They look very...generic.

I've only played the second one (the first one released in the US)... Generic, overly linear, repetitive, easy, way too much talking/exposition. Some great music, decent graphics, and nice character portraits, though.

I've got a hankering for a decent portable RPG after I finish FFV.  I'm tempted to get all three and work my way through them.

I've only played Legend of Heroes VI - Miracle of the Sky (FC and SC) on the PC.  They were mildly entertaining games (nowhere near as good as the Ys series, but also entirely different).  As PC games, I would just install them on my laptop making them easy to carry around.  The mission structure worked out pretty well as a "portable" game.  I believe those games are available on PSP as well and I certainly believe they would work well on that format.

I'm unfamiliar with the other PSP remakes, though (the first three games).  From what little I've seen, they seem to be very different games.

I'm interested in the English versions...I believe the ones you played are only available in Japanese.

Ah yes, that is true.  I wonder if any plans exist to bring the PSP version to the US?  I don't understand why they bothered with those other games while ignoring the superior titles.

probably because they were horrible, even for an rpg starved platform like the psp at that time

i bought the first one and it was such a regression in content and style that i didn't like it

you can say "zomgteholdskool" but there's a reason people don't play pong on their 360s.

Also note that the first one (JP PSP) had absolutely ATROCIOUS load times.  'Worst on the platform' levels of bad.  It was also generic and lame.  Suggest you play through FF1 PSP again over these (and this coming from a bit of a falcom fanboy).

I don't remember excessive load times on the US PSP vers... maybe they corrected that in translation? But still, Ichi... I didn't make em sound THAT bad? Heh, well I didn't exactly have praise for them to tell you the truth, but you COULD do a lot worse (IIRC Prole is a bit of a fan of the series)... there's guaranteed to be better PSP RPGs out there that you haven't played yet.
